Technical Analyst / Consultant

Well join the Innovation, Policy and Research Group as a Technical Analyst / Consultant helping to deliver pensions technical expertise to the Retirement Administration business. Using your in depth knowledge of defined contribution and defined benefit pensions you will work as part of the Innovation, Policy & Research team, gaining a great sense of achievement in supporting Mercer colleagues in all aspects of technical research, and training.
Key Activities include:
• Analyse new and existing pension legislation, regulatory guidance and technical updates and assess their potential impact on Mercer, Retirement Administration, our clients and their members • Work with team members to produce technical guidance and training material and deliver training to Retirement Administration colleagues across the various offices. • Work with Retirement Administration colleagues to determine the impact of change on Mercer processes, procedures and documentation and to ensure that risks are flagged to the business. • Act as a point of technical support for Mercer colleagues and deal with technical queries received by colleagues from clients, scheme members, third parties and other Mercer businesses, via the Technical Helpline. • Develop and update clear and concise communications for members and clients. • Promote Mercer externally through various committees, articles and study support including the Pensions Management Institute and the Society of Pension Professionals. • Work with Innovation, Policy and Research colleagues to respond to Government consultations taking into account client and operational considerations. QualificationsEducation (degree / diploma) • Preferably educated to degree level with a Professional Industry qualification such as PMI (or working towards). Skills and Qualifications Required: • Good understanding of how UK pension schemes operate and the legislative framework they operate under, with the ability to interpret legislation and awareness of the impact for our clients.• Existing knowledge of pension administration processes and procedures or a willingness to learn.• Excellent planning and organisational ability in order to prioritise and complete work very efficiently in accordance with deadlines.• Good analytical skills and ability to work through tasks in a logical manner.• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the need to be a strong team player.• Willingness to take ownership of issues.• A willingness to occasionally travel to different regional offices to deliver training. • Good IT skills with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
