Job Description:

The Well Operations Field Lead - Well Intervention (WOFL-WI), is responsible to manage work over rig operations on Shell Australia’s east coast unconventional (coal seam gas) land wells, in accordance with HSSE standards, Statutes, Regulations, and Company Policies. Due to the competitive nature of onshore plays, wells must be worked over as quickly and efficiently as possible while upholding leading performance in HSSE. Success relies predominantly on the ability of the Wells group to deliver low cost well work overs. The WOFL-WI reports to the Well Operations Team Lead-WI.

Some of the key deliverables and responsibilities of this role are:

  • Manage HSSE, demonstrate unyielding commitment to Goal Zero, integrate Assist and Assure in work plans.   • Execute Well programmes, covering QGC Well Intervention scope. Provide oversights to daily wells operations, including wells execution plans and logistics plans, ensuring that activities are executed as per QGC procedures. Responsible for managing operations in line with approved budgets.

  • Ensure that operations and HSSE reporting are carried out in line with regulatory and QGC’s Standards requirements.

  • Support and review engineering plans, including assessing and managing project risks at the front-line and working closely with planning engineers and operations staff to make high quality work decisions.

  • Cultivate a continuous improvement culture by analysing non-productive time & costs, following up of Non-Conformance Reports (NCR), sharing and implementing lessons learnt, and developing improvements alongside field supervisors (OCRs – Operating Company Representatives) and Wells Engineers (WE).

  • Contract Management – Provide input and suggestions on service contracts to enable high performance. Manage contractor services in the field in line with contract management plans & quality plans. Support WOTL-WI in managing rig or associated contracts.

  • Capability development – A critical aspect of the Field Lead job is coaching less experienced staff and supporting contractors to achieve alignment between Shell and contractor goals.

  • Develop strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, such as Brisbane & Chinchilla office-based Wells, Production, Subsurface, HSSE, Regulatory, Logistics, CP, teams, Contractors & Suppliers.

Requirements:

Requirements for the role:

  • High school education required. Technical College education desired.

  • Substantial industry experience with significant work on drilling rigs, workover rig, hoist, or rigless operations such as CTU or pressure pumping.

  • Solid leadership experience as a Well Site Supervisor or Field supervisor, with proven involvement in field planning and execution of daily operations.

  • Excellent people skills and able to build a collaborative environment. Able to seek out and integrate a wide range of viewpoints. Comfortable working with uncertainties and competing priorities.

  • Dedicated to coaching less experienced team members.

  • Unconventional Oil and Gas, CSG industry, particularly with ‘factory operations” environment is desirable.

  • Experience in snubbing (engineering planning & operational) is desirable.

To be successful in the role you must lead from the front with solution based positive mindset, and demonstrate excellent stakeholder management skills to be effective in this environment.

The role will be carried out on a 14/14 or 21/21 rotation with company provided transport from Brisbane, or locally from the Dalby—Chinchilla—Miles—Wandoan region.
