Thermo Fisher Scientific Development & Business Improvement Manager in Cincinnati, Ohio
Serves as the Development and Business Improvement Manager for the Pharmaceutical Development Services (PDS) business managing 60 programs per year with top line revenue of 50M annually. Partnering with senior level staff, middle management to plan and direct the administrative, financial and operational activities needed to support business. Manages PDS internal improvement projects and business strategy projects in an effective and efficient manner. Leads assigned project teams, providing coaching or feedback to team members / management as appropriate. Supports key performance indicator (KPI) reporting, business strategy planning, and other business needs.
Manages an appropriate number of active projects with regular monitoring and support from upper management, ensuring all assigned projects are delivered on time. Directly manages deliverable tracking across the business holistically.
Communicates issues or risks on project delivery in a timely and effective manner and develops mitigation plans to address/resolve them.
Creates and maintains multi-departmental high level day-to-day operational dashboard with appropriate KPIs: Sales, Revenue, EBITA, OTD, RFT, efficiency metrics, etc. Coordinates with functions to ensure that data is available on time in appropriate systems.
Meeting preparation and follow up: reviewing upcoming meetings for the week to ensure leadership has all of the information needed to be as productive as possible and sending out agendas or documents to meeting attendees as necessary.
Provides thought partnership for communications, personnel management and issue resolution
Provides analytics and scheduling for strategic time management as well as shadows and facilitates leadership’s meetings as proxy when needed.
Owns facilitation of yearly strategy and budget planning process for PDS business.
Reviews internal and external communications: drafting documents, reports, or presentations.
Learns PPI Business System and helps champion across business working to improve systems and process to streamline operations.
Ensure the health and connectivity of the business through maintaining consistency and quality communication across all functional areas
Bachelor’s degree in science or related field. MBA is preferred.
Three to five years of experience in a relevant industry. Pharmaceutical development experience is preferred.
Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.
U nderstanding of project management principles is required. Knowledge of GMP and pharmaceutical industry is strongly preferred. Ability to work strategically and collaboratively across departments with a positive mindset. Has a strong attention to organization and detail and is able to make and meet commitments through time management and prioritization. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks across a portfolio of projects with an orientation to process and action. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with strong drive. Learning agility and flexibility to keep up with what can be an uncertain and/or changing environment. Leadership and conflict resolution skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to confidentially manage information as required. Strong skills in relevant software applications, particularly Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Outlook.
Position requires ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination sufficient to move about office locations; visual acuity to use a keyboard, computer monitor and read materials for prolonged periods of time.
