Primary Role

Performs a variety of tasks in supervising and participating in locating, laying, repairing and extending underground water mains and distribution pipes. Performs meter reading functions, customer service work, and the operation and maintenance of well stations, booster stations and tanks.

Key Accountabilities

  • Supports and assists activities as directed by the supervisor for Production/Transmission, Distribution and Customer Service activities.

  • Locates and marks company facilities associated with the PA One Call System (includes oversight of mark out program), coordinates with contractors, utilities or others relating to the utility markings.

  • Responds to PA One Call System for work to be done by or for the company, respond to KARL or related systems.

  • Contacts PA One Call System for design, emergency, repairs or other related network operations. Investigates customer complaints and determine corrective action per company procedure. Completes all necessary forms, sketches and field notes. Updates company related materials on systems available.

  • Assists others on the installation of meters and use of meter reading equipment. Attends construction and planning meetings as needed. May oversee shipping and receiving of materials. Attend training classes as required. Oversees and coordinates developer projects in conjunction with the engineering department.

  • Assist employees in meeting annual goals. Assists supervisor with implementation of company safety practices. Responds to system alarms on evenings and weekends as required: auto dialers, SCADA system, etc.

  • Any other duties that may be assigned by Supervisor.

Knowledge / Skills

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel preferred.

  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems and instrumentation preferred.

  • Three years of experience in construction, water/sewer distribution system or plumbing trades.

  • Must be able to pass a D.O.T. physical examination.
