The Oracle Solution and Product Strategy group within the Food & Beverage Global Business Unit is comprised of hospitality industry experts with strong hospitality solution knowledge and industry marketing expertise. The main goals of this team are to capture market and product requirements, define the strategic business plans and investment agenda, and build targeted market offers. The group is measured by plan attainment, growth in market share, and customer success.
This opening is for the Sr. Director Distribution Strategy & Solution Management. The candidate leads a small, high-calibre team to define and deliver upon the vision for the OPERA CRS / Distribution product set. The Distribution leader provides thought leadership and industry expertise to help shape the solution roadmap with the VP Strategy. They work on market analysis and business cases for the proposed investments and solicit feedback from the field (sales, consulting and customers) in order to optimise the revenue generation and market share growth for the suite.
Successful Distribution Leaders have a strong background in distribution operations (Hotel, Airline, Cruise or other related) and expertise in the hotel and/or retail software market. They are good at building relationships and understanding the greater organisation – including the Development team. As leaders within the organization, they are evangelists for distribution both externally and internally.
The Sr. Dir. Distribution is responsible for the following solution deliverables:
Vision – work with the VP Strategy to shape the roadmap for the solution set
Market Requirements – create market requirement documents for solution enhancements
Business Case Support – provide quantitative business justification for the proposed enhancements
TCO, Partner & Implementation Approach – document/analyze current solution TCO, develop partner relationships, and work to optimize the implementation of the solutions
Customer Advisory Board – support Market Segment Leader with content throughout the year
Customer success - participate in strategic customer discussions and issue resolution
Thought Leadership – internal and external communication related to key industry trends and how they may be relevant to the Merchandising solutions
In addition to the above activities, the Solution Director assists in strategic sales cycles and customer strategy sessions as necessary. They collaborate very closely with the VP Strategy, give feedback on solution messaging and offers to the Marketing Team while providing guidance to the product managers in his team on solution / product requirements. The role reports directly to the VP Strategy within the HGBU.
First-hand, detailed knowledge of the hotel Industry and hotel business processes with an emphasis on core hotel operations. Ideally the candidate will be familiar with the Oracle Hotel product suite (or competitive vendor equivalent solutions). The candidate should have consultative selling or business consulting experience as well as excellent presentation, communication and influencing skills. They must possess strong financial analytical skills and business acumen. The ability to travel domestically as well as sometimes internationally is required. BA/BS required, MBA an advantage.

Detailed Description and Job Requirements
Manage a team that acts as the central resource and driving force for the design, process, manufacturing, test, quality and marketing of product(s) as they move from conception to distribution. Organize interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project/product on schedule and within budget.
As a Senior Director in the product development division, you will lead a team that defines product specifications and or strategy. Gather and analyze information to define product specifications and review design specifications. Envision and communicate product strategy and functionality. Initiate and foster relationships with other groups. Review product documentation and collateral. Ensure successful product releases based on corporate priorities.
Directs and ensures the implementation of operational policies through subordinate managers. Interacts internally and externally with executive management, providing negotiation of difficult matters to influence policy. Functional expertise and broad company knowledge important. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development and product management. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 8 or more years of software engineering or related experience preferred.
