The main objectives of the role are to provide high quality legal support and advice in the preparation of the legal documentation supporting all areas of Mercer’s business in the Pacific region.
Provide advice on all aspects of superannuation, investment, administration and distribution of Mercer’s products and services
Provide legal support for claims in relation to services provided by Pillar and act as interface with the relevant insurer/s
Draft legal documents as needed
Provide legal support for bids for new business
Prepare and advise on non-disclosure agreements, service contracts, settlement agreements and other legal documents
Review Mercer investor disclosure documents
Actively supporting the government relations team in reviewing proposed changes to laws and participating in industry consultations on key issues that impact Mercer’s business
With support from their Manager and other senior lawyers, be able to take the lead for the delivery of that legal support and be person primarily responsible for the interaction with the business and external stakeholders
Assist with such other projects as from time to time requested by the Chief Legal Counsel, Pacific QualificationsQualifications:
Bachelor of Laws or equivalent with good academic results. Recent graduate or 1-2 + years of legal experience obtained from a reputable legal practice or in-house legal department focussing on one or more of the following: commercial and corporations, intellectual property, laws relating to social media, consumer protection and competition, IT, contract laws Admission as legal practitioner in an Australian jurisdiction or ability to be admitted within 6 months of commencing the role Experience in Financial Services well regarded but not essential Excellent technical skills and competent with the use of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint with strong attention to detail Genuine team player with ability to meaningfully contribute to a team of professionals and foster a genuine team environment Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate and relate to internal clients and stakeholders at all levels
