Conroe Regional Medical Center is currently looking for an Occupational Therapist (OT).

Responsibilities:

Delivers medically prescribed Occupational Therapy in support of medical care as directed by the primary physician. Works with patients of all ages, race, creed, gender, and disability without bias or prejudice. Utilizes the evaluation of the patient’s rehabilitative needs to plan the care, implement and document effective, appropriate and safe Occupational Therapy treatments. Acts as a member of the interdisciplinary team in helping the patients and their families achieve the highest level of functioning. Supervises and instructs Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants and Rehab Techs/Restorative Techs in regard to Occupational Therapy Services. Participates in planning and implementing new services, staff development programs, and marketing efforts. Performs all job duties and tasks in accordance with national and state professional governing guidelines and state practice act, rules, and code of ethics.

Each patient is assessed by appropriate disciplines beginning at the time the patient enters a hospital service and progressing through discharge. The patient’s relevant physical, psychological and social status will be assessed.

Demonstrates competency in patient assessment and reassessment that is complete, timely, identifies the patient’s loss of function, and reflects appropriate tools, skills, and judgement, to include:

• Pertinent historical patient information is included to accurately assess continuum of care issues. • Physical findings are specific, quantified, and relevant to diagnosis. • Assessment of pain includes quantification, qualification, pain history, and past pain strategies. • Educational needs and barriers to learning are included. • Appropriate precautions are identified to include allergy history, safety, infection control, and diagnosis-related precautions or restrictions, etc. • Domestic violence screening is performed per hospital policy. • Psychosocial and/or cultural and religious needs are considered. • Age-specific needs in relation to growth and development are considered. • Discharge planning and family support and/or follow-up care needs are addressed. • Risk factors, precautions and contraindications are identified.

Determines goals for the patient that are functional, specific, measurable, and attainable, based on past and present functional levels and anticipated outcomes.

Develops a therapeutic plan of care that maximizes the patient’s functional potential considering the patient’s cultural and religious practices, emotional barriers, literacy and education level, desire and motivation to learn, age, physical, occupational and cognitive limitations, language barriers, and the financial implications of care choices. Daily notes reflect concise and specific plan of care.

Explains risks and benefits of treatment to the patient commensurate with the patient’s learning needs, abilities, preferences, and readiness to learn.

Provides and documents patient/family education on the interdisciplinary teaching record, and may be supplemented in progress notes. Teaching is provided according to the patient’s/family’s needs and plan of care, in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. Adjustments in the chosen methods are made according to the patient’s/family’s current knowledge, attitudes, developmental level, special needs and learning considerations.

Completes timely and consistent entry of evaluation, progress notes, and charges. Billing is accurate to minutes recorded and to guideline descriptions.

Consistently participates actively in established departmental and house wide performance improvement activities, to include use of hospital-approved abbreviations. Participates in core measure initiatives and assists in data collection as directed by management.

Practices cost-efficiency.

Communicates client information with physicians, nurses, case managers, ancillary staff, patients, and family members to fulfill position responsibilities.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.

  • Minimum of one year of experience preferred.

  • Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Texas.

  • Current BLS certification.
