Job Description:

As a Machinist Technician , you will support the multi-skilled maintenance team.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform assembly of bolted flange connections on piping and field equipment

  • Perform basic crane lifts as operator/signalman/rigger

  • Install, align, perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, repair and overhaul tasks on process pumps and ensure proper documentation of the repair

  • Install, perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, repair and overhaul compressors

  • Install, perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, repair and overhaul of air-intake blowers

  • Install, perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, repair and overhaul of variable pitch fan assemblies

  • Install, perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, repair and overhaul of fin fans

  • Install, perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, repair and overhaul turbines

  • Troubleshoot and replace mechanical seals on pumps

  • Troubleshoot and replace compression and fuel valves in reciprocating compressors

  • Diagnose and apply results using alignment tools for power-driven connections

  • Check and adjust speed control governors on turbines and compressors

  • Replace and install gearboxes

  • Remove and clean compressor rotors

  • Diagnose and apply results using micrometer

  • Perform machine tool work using lathes, mills, keyseaters, saws, etc

Requirements:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Machinist Technician or relevant military experience or an educational background in a maintenance related field

  • Must have prior experience in a maintenance field in an industrial, manufacturing or military work environment

  • Must be able to successfully demonstrate proficiency in calibrating miscellaneous equipment during the interview process

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without the requirement of a work visa

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must possess a current, valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the United States

  • Must have a High School diploma or equivalent

  • Must currently hold or be able to qualify to receive a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card. Note, information regarding TWIC qualification standards may be found at https://www.tsa.gov/for-industry/twic

  • With or without reasonable accommodations, be willing to work at heights; climb ladders and stairs; walk on high elevation grating; work in inclement weather; work around loud industrial equipment; work in compact and confined spaces; and work outdoors

  • Willingness to work at night, on weekends and on holidays

  • Able to work while wearing a respirator or Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)

  • Willing to be on call and meet call-out standards to respond to site responsibilities and emergencies

  • Willing and able to lift 40 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation

  • Must be able to read, speak, and write English fluently and understand operating procedures

  • Willingness to support and comply with Shell’s safety policies and safe working practices

  • Willingness to work in an environment that requires the daily use of computers
