Job Description

Accounting Services - Research and Exception Clearing Team is responsible for providing support and expertise to internal and external customers and business partners regarding Accounting transactions. Multiple policy billing systems, applications and software are utilized to research and resolve various exceptions, general ledger account variances and respond to inquiries from customers and business areas throughout the organization.

The team completes various processes and tasks of a moderate to complex nature which may require some overall knowledge around the movement of financial transactions through various systems and general ledger accounts. Compliance requirements must also be supported and updated as needed to ensure proper controls around processes and movement of accounting transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate and respond to internal and external inquiries related to premium payments, disbursements and money movement through various systems, applications and general ledger accounts

  • Clear exceptions generated from various processes, complete manual policy adjustments, charge offs and set up employee policies for payroll deduction

  • Generate miscellaneous reports

  • Assist in resolving moderate to complex general ledger account reconciliation variances

  • The ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines required to meet SLA objectives.

Job Qualifications

  • Basic Accounting knowledge (money movement, debits/credits)

  • Basic policy knowledge is preferred (Allstate Life & Retirement)

  • Broad problem-solving skills needed to resolve exceptions and variances

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Strong PC skills

  • Time management (organization, priorities) skills/Multi-tasking

  • Strong documentation and communication skills

Additional Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Outlook) is required; (Excel, Word, Access) is preferred

  • Knowledge of SAP (ISCD) is preferred
