Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Field HSE (Health, Safety and Environmental) Inspector for employment in the Coral Gables, FL office.

The Field Health, Safety and Environmental Inspector oversees multiple contractors involved in the new build and rehabilitation of wastewater treatment plants (WWTP's), pumping stations and force mains within Miami Dade, FL.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain the high Heath, Safety and Environmental standards set by the Program team and client

  • Maintain high quality standards to be expected by the client and ensuring compliance with the client's Heath, Safety and Environmental specifications and plans

  • Ensures the contractor complies with their Health, Safety and Environment plan

  • Create daily site safety inspections and reports

  • Assist contractor with safety concerns

  • Provide training and guidance to the Program staff

  • Attendance and input at monthly/weekly/daily contractor and client meetings

  • Reporting of Health, Safety and Environmental issues to Construction Manager, Construction Engineer and Program Construction Manager, Safety Manager and Safety Officer

  • Assist with incident investigations and reporting

  • Attend incident review meetings

  • Compile meeting minutes

Minimum Requirements

  • 2+ years’ experience

  • Experience in wastewater and wastewater collection and transmission infrastructure, gravity sewer systems, force mains up to 54” diameter, submersible pumping and dry well/wet well pumping stations

  • Experience of lock out tag out procedures

  • Experience with working with civil and building, structural, mechanical, electrical and control engineers/inspectors

  • Direct experience working with multiple contractors in the field

  • Competency with confined spaces, excavations, crane operations, working at height and permit to work systems

  • Competency with hazardous chemicals and MSDS information

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Good communication skills with both internal and external cusomers

  • Selection and proper use of PPE

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health, Safety and Environment or other relevant degree

  • Competent with Microsoft Word and Excel

  • OSHA 30 Hour Construction or equivalent (NEBOSH)

  • CHS-EVS certified

  • EMT Certifications

  • First Aid Trained
