AutoZone Category Manager (Commercial) in Corporate Office, United States
The Category Manager is responsible for optimizing sales for a particular category of products by maintaining a productive relationship with vendors that is mutually beneficial.This individual is responsible for developing insightful and actionable analysis and selling story presentations based on business trends and category management expertise.This role will challenge the individual to develop and implement a buying philosophy, a pricing philosophy and a marketing strategy to provide key conclusions. To be successful in this role, one must demonstrate the ability to cut through data to identify what information is most important to the business so the conclusions are effectively and persuasively communicated. Furthermore, the Category Manager will drive the individual to create implications and recommended action plans, as well as, require strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively deliver information to internal teams and outside customers.
Understand industry, consumer and categorytrends and translating those insights into actionable strategic businessrecommendations to achieve both AutoZone Brand and customer goals andobjectives
Provide proactive analysis and shopper insightdriven recommendations against all key business drivers related to categorybusiness reviews, assortment & space optimization, promotion & pricingeffectiveness
Develop collaborative partnerships with keystrategic customers so that AutoZone Brand is viewed as the category leader inproviding recommendations for the categories in which we compete
Source and select quality domestic vendors, negotiatesprograms and analyzes market research to effectively put the right products inthe right stores at the right prices
Uses information from sales, gross profit andvarious ad hoc reports to make sure their assigned categories meet establishedperformance targets
Primarily responsible for the development andimplementation of fact based sales presentations
Bachelor’s degree with a concentration inMarketing, Business, or Communications or equivalent experience required
3-5 years of experience in category management,data analysis or customer development roles, preferably in a retail operationsenvironment
Prior experience in merchandising, purchasingand/or a fast moving consumer goods manufacturing (hard line productspreferred) environment a plus.
ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) or CPCM(Certified Professional Category Manager) certifications are preferred
Ability to utilize data to create compellingselling stories that support key brands/initiatives
Strong time management skills and the ability tohandle multiple projects, set priorities, and plan
Strong presentation development skills(Development and delivery to senior levels)
Strong financial acumen, communication skills, collaboration, influenceand impact skills at all levels within an organization
Strong retail foundation, vendor management andanalytical skills
30-40% travel required with international travel potential
