  • JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

  • Coordinates employee leaves of absence by maintaining and applying knowledge of state and federal leave laws and best-practices activities related to leave management, recognizing qualifying events,ensuring eligibility, sending appropriate letters of notification, maintaing tracking system, and coordinating return to work agreements with managers, Payroll, Employee Health and HR Director or Generalist. May perform other HR support functions as needed.

  • DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

  • The Human Resources teams at Samaritan Health Services provide a professional, fair and knowledgeable approach to supporting employees, management, volunteers, candidates and visitors. The HR teams provide guidance in employee relations and interpretation of policies, procedures, and contract language, as well as facilitation of leave and disability management. While Recruitment, Training, and Compensation & Benefits functions are centralized, those departments and the Human Resources teams work hand-in-hand to provide excellent service to their customers.

  • EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate's degree or equivelant experience required.

  • Two years experience working in a Human Resources Department with leave administration responsibility required.

  • Certification in Human Resources and/or compensation/benefits management preferred.

  • Experience and/ or training in Microsoft Office applications required.

This position is limited in duration.

  • Human Resources - Possess knowledge and ability to interpret and apply human resources policies, procedures, practices, programs, Federal/State employment laws, labor contracts, and employment agreements.

  • Confidentiality - Ensures confidentiality of employee and protected health information. Ability to use discretion when processing and handling sensitive human resources issues.

  • Communication - Effective written and verbal communication skills to perform group presentations, tactfully discuss issues, and listen to and understand complex information/situations. Ability to work with all levels within the organization, facilitate communication, and effectively document related activities.

  • Computer Literacy - Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and data management tools.

  • Problem Solving - Ability to identify complex problems, analyze related information, employ creativity and alternative thinking to develop and evaluate options, build consensus and implement effective solutions. Skilled in information gathering and critical thinking.

  • Clerical - Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
