  • JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

  • Provides assessment, assistance, and support of infant nutrition (particularly breastfeeding) as it applies to infants, adults, adolescent mothers and families.

  • DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

  • The LDRP team offers labor, delivery and recovery including post partum and newborn care by a highly trained team of nurses and medical staff in a family centered caring and medically safe environment. All sites are trained in GYN surgical care, while GSRMC practices pediatrics as well.

  • EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS

  • One (1) of the following required:

  • Current unencumbered Oregon LPN license and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).

  • Current unencumbered Oregon Lactation Consultant license.

  • Experience or training in computer applications required.

  • Healthcare Provider BLS required.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Outpatient/Inpatient lactation clinical experience preferred.

  • KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Time Management: Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work to complete within required time frames and to follow-up on pending issues. Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in dynamic fast-paced environments and under pressure.

  • Social Perceptiveness: Ability to work with a diverse population from pediatrics to geriatrics. Basic understanding of age-related differences in caring for and/or communicating with patients and caregivers. Possess personal sensitivity to the needs and experiences of others and a non-judgmental attitude towards persons of differing standards, values, lifestyles, and ages.

  • Communication: Effective written and oral communication skills to explain complex issues, exchange information between team members, and tactfully discuss issues.
