The Role

We are looking for a resourceful, enthusiastic individual that tackles challenges head-on and is able to work effectively both independently and in tandem with other members of the team. You will demonstrate individual initiative, good attention to detail and a drive to do what is needed to deliver results.

The Accounts Assistant will report directly to the Finance Manager and will be accountable for:

Principal Accountabilities

  • General Finance processing, reporting and associated activities for Eaton Lighting Systems, UK.

  • Role based in Cwmbran covers two sites on two accounting systems.

General Accounting

  • Accounts Receivable & Credit Control Activities

  • Accounts Payable processing & associated activities

  • Reporting & Analysis

  • Liaison with intercompany partners

Month End Close

  • Journal Processing

  • Account Reconciliations

  • Month End Routines & Calculations

Internal Control

  • Creation and Review of Key Internal Control Reports

  • Monthly Audit Sample Testing of key Internal Controls

Trade Compliance

  • Audit Testing of Import & Export Documentation

  • Audit Testing of Proof of Export

Payroll, T&E

  • Validate & submit payroll data to in-house payroll bureau

  • Review & approve final payroll and process to GL

Qualifications

Person Requirements:

  • Good academic record

  • Possibly part qualified, or AAT qualified, accountant.

  • Ability to work within a number of business and processes

  • Attention to detail is essential

  • Knowledge of SAP, desirable

  • Excellent Microsoft skills

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines in a fast paced, accountable team environment.

  • Hands-on approach to all tasks

  • Good time management skills and the ability to prioritise multiple projects

  • Ability to work within a number of businesses and processes

  • Willingness to take on additional duties and develop new skills.

  • Ability to work accurately and to tight deadlines.

  • Strong IT skills.
