IBM Launch strategist, Product Marketing Discipline in Dallas, Texas

Do you have a talent for being able to simplify an otherwise complex storyline working across different stakeholders? We’re looking for a storyteller who wants to be a part of shaping the most impactful announcements at IBM. The ideal candidate should have experience influencing groups around a common vision. This leadership role is part of our new Product Marketing Discipline area build out (sponsored by Michelle Peluso)– where the focus is on differentiated and bold moves backed by technology innovations and talented people.

The role will involve hands-on interaction with the Product Marketing Community, Communications, Offering Management and Design to facilitate an alignment in approach end-to-end through a launch journey.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the effort to increase the impact of BU-specific and cross IBM launches. Consistency in what defines the best moments of positive impact so can work towards addressing those requirements.

  • Ensure that IBM solutions (across all of IBM) are bold, competitively differentiated, and able to cut through the market noise to and drive pipeline and revenue.

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with offering management, sales, communications, and other marketing disciplines – driving teamwork and effectiveness. Key to re-define R&R especially between OM and Product Marketing(elevating role of Marketing in the process and setting expectations with OM on where help is needed).

  • Drive product marketing participation in all manner of client and prospect engagement – through client calls and meetings, messaging, and all forms of marketing engagement

  • Supporting storylines of major events where IBM is sponsoring to align with timely launch themes

  • Testing of launch proposals with clients & partners before they go live.

Position must be based out of our Austin TX, Boston MA, Atlanta GA, Raleigh NC, or New York City offices.*


Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 8+ years of solutions marketing, product marketing, product management or applicable experience.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and articulate/align technical features to customer needs.

  • Exceptional knowledge of sales, marketing and development processes.

  • Demonstrated leadership, sales support, project management and training skills.

  • Excellent analytical and presentation skills including demonstration skills to handle many assignments simultaneously

Preferred Tech and Prof Experience

  • Demonstrated communication and writing skills.

  • Demonstrated people and management skills to interact with colleagues and cross-functional teams and third parties.

  • Expert in forward thinking and market research, and should possess strong problem-solving skills.

  • Able to develop effective relationships and operate with senior level management.

  • Efficiently work under pressure and deadlines, and stretch extra hours to complete assigned task.
