We are looking for a Safety Engineer at our corporate headquarters located in Dallas, Texas.

Essential Job Duties:

This position provides safety and health technical support and future program activies with safety and health advocacy, compliance and stewardship programs for OxyChem and assist efforts to achieve or maintain OSHA STAR certification. This position will be a future candidate to fill key Safety leadership roles at a manufacturing facility (primarily in the gulf coast region) to fulfill developmental and organizational needs.

  • Provide safety and health technical support through development and implementation of corporate programs and procedures, tools, databases and training.

  • Provide direct hands-on support to manufacturing sites to assure protection of worker safety and compliance with company policy and safety regulations. Complete specific safety and health related projects, as needed. Assist sites in obtaining or maintaining OSHA STAR status.

  • Analyze proposed, new or revised regulations to determine impact on the company or individual manufacturing locations and develop compliance guidance as appropriate. Prepare comments on behalf of the company on pending regulations to ensure company position is provided.

  • Serve on issue task teams that are formed to address specific concerns that arise in the company.

  • Recommend, educate, and influence OxyChem management and facilities on safety and health matters, so that concerns can be identified, assessed, and appropriately managed to ensure compliance and where applicable, reduction of risks to employees, the public, the environment and company assets.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on select safety and health topics of importance to the company.

  • Participate in HES&S Compliance Assurance Audits and complete regulatory assistance program reviews to provide OxyChem management and facilities with an evaluation of facilities’ efforts to comply with OxyChem programs, policies and procedures.

  • Support the annual budget for the Corporate HES&S Department.

  • Support other functional personnel within the Corporate HES&S Department.

  • Moderate travel (25%) is required to any OCC facility.


  • Minimum of 3 years of safety experience is required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety or related curriculum

  • Must be able to interface with corporate and plant level HES&S and manufacturing management.

  • Detailed knowledge of federal, state, and local policies and regulations, related to health and safety.

  • Ability to analyze data, comprehend both abstract and concrete concepts, and translate technical information in a manner that can be communicated to non-technical personnel.

  • Moderate travel (25%) is required to any OCC facility.

  • Must be able to interface with corporate and plant level HES&S and manufacturing management.

  • Must exhibit leadership qualities and possess excellent written and verbal communications skills.

  • High proficiency in Microsoft applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
