CBRE Senior Systems Engineer in Dallas, Texas
Under general to broad supervision, manages and allocates infrastructure resources by monitoring and maintaining Cloud-oriented system platforms in support of CBRE's Data Engineering development and operations.
Provides secondary support for associated network services and software in the Cloud such as load balancers, virtual private networks, web applications, and build servers.
May install and maintain Linux servers. May serve as technical lead for projects with complex requirements. May also install and administer application software and manage middleware components.
Requires an energized professional that is comfortable communicating with technical teams, Project Managers, Business teams, and interpreting/translating their needs into solutions.
Requires a professional who believes in exploring alternatives and quickly prototyping to validate hypothetical architectures or solutions.
Experience deploying high availability systems and software. Experience troubleshooting distributed applications.
Ability to prioritize and co-ordinate tasks efficiently ensuring all deadlines are met.
7 + years of broad experience utilizing information technology providing solutions that enable technical and business teams to deliver results.
Manages and maintains the hardware, software, security, and connectivity to the Internet as well as middleware components.
Troubleshoots and resolves system service failures by identifying and analyzing the situation and provides corrective actions.
Develops, installs, and tests new applications, hardware and software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems.
Monitors systems activities and fine tunes system parameters and configuration to optimize performance and ensure security of systems.
Provides senior level expertise on decisions and priorities regarding systems architecture.
Engages with application development teams on current infrastructure projects.
Evaluates existing solutions and infrastructure and provides recommendations.
Approves system designs and functions as a project lead as required.
Facilitates the establishment and implementation of standards and guidelines that guide the design of technology solutions including architecting and implementing solutions.
Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing publications; establishing personal networks; in technical societies.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in a related field such as information systems or computer science or computer engineering or equivalent work experience.
Requires technical and business knowledge in multiple disciplines/processes. Typically has 5-7 years of relevant work experience. Technical certifications (e.g. AWS, Linux) desirable
Software Development Fundamentals, Problem Solving, Documentation Skills, Verbal Communication, Application Maintenance, Application and System Security, Promotes Team Building and Process Improvement, System Administration.
Must have strong public Cloud technology experience (i.e. AWS, Azure, or GoogleCloud). Experience with Infrastructure-as-code concepts and implementation (i.e. Cloud Formation/TerraForm templating) and configuration management systems (i.e. Ansible, Puppet or Chef).
Experience with Kubernetes and or Mesos Cluster management a plus.
A deep understanding and familiarity with: Linux, and Web/Application servers - Apache, Nginx, Tomcat, etc.
Monitoring and logging systems – Cloudwatch, Cloudtrail, ElasticSearch, Kibana, Logstash
Virtualization and Containers: Docker, ECS.
Networking knowledge - Firewalls, VPNs, proxies & Load balancers Experience with Python, shell or other scripting language.
Experience with Continuous Integration practices and tools such as Jenkins Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Git and source code version control.
