CBRE Senior Tax Analyst in Dallas, Texas

Audit Support– Assist in the preparation and various processes of sales & use tax audits.

Use Tax Support– Assist in the corporate use tax function.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

:

Assists in the preparation and operations of multiple sales and use tax audits through:

-Familiarity with audit process to enable support of audits

-Timely complete projects assigned to comply with tax authorities’ requests

-Research to aid in aggressive defense of corporate tax positions

-Assist in management of statutes of limitations

Support of corporate use tax function:

  • Assist in monthly use tax reconciliation process

-Assist in analyzing and interpreting new legislation and court decisions as they apply to company’s current taxing environment, recommending changes if needed

-Assist in monitoring the use tax application to ensure it is functioning as intended

Special Projects include:

-Assisting Tax Supervisor in projects as requested, including but not limited to, Avalara tax software and tax planning.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized four-year college or university, preferably in Accounting/Finance/Business or related field is required. A minimum 1-3 years of experience in the sales and use tax field and audit is required.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

: Position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as strong organizational and analytical skills. Individual should have the ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret various types of business documents; the ability to write reports and memos; the ability to effectively respond to complex inquiries or complaints from taxing authorities, clients, co-workers, supervisor, and / or management; and the ability to present information effectively to an internal department, C-level management and /or large groups of employees.

TECHNICAL/FUNCTIONAL SKILLS: Position requires advanced computer skills, including by not limited to intermediate to advanced Excel, Word and Access Skills; and intermediate to advanced research skills. Knowledge of PeopleSoft, Thomson Reuters One Source and/or tax software (i.e. Avalara) is preferred.

FINANCIAL / TAX KNOWLEDGE: Position requires knowledge of financial accounting terms and principles. Intermediate knowledge of sales / use tax principles is preferred. Applicant must be able to pass CBRE accounting test.

REASONING ABILITY

: The position requires strong analytical and quantitative skills. Individual must demonstrate the ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents and tax law and be able to resolve multifaceted problems involving several possible options

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

: Decisions must be made with strong understanding of company procedures and policies to achieve set results and deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to co-workers and supervisor.
