Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a Tunnel & Shaft Construction Inspector for immediate employment for the Dallas, TX office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Relies on experience and independent judgment to guide, document and achieve requirements of Plans and Specifications by construction contractor(s)

  • Works under the supervision/direction of Client’s designated Consultant Representative to implement the Construction Contract

  • Reports to the Consultant Project Construction Manager (CM), or Resident Engineer (RE); if a Lead, or Chief, Inspector is designated; reports thru the Lead Inspector)

  • Reads and interprets construction contact Plans, Specifications, Project Schedules and Safety Plans

  • Follows Client’s Const. Management Procedures as provided and explained by the CM/RE Consultant lead

  • Responsible for monitoring conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and/or code requirements by performing inspection duties

  • Tracks quality assurance progress

  • Performs daily field inspections and maintains inspection records, written and photographic

  • Attends/participates in progress meetings, daily, weekly or monthly as appropriate for the work that is underway

  • Attends Contractor’s site safety meetings and routine activity work planning meetings

  • Verifies contractor’s work Submittals have been “accepted” and are in place and understood, prior to work commencement

  • Verifies Contractor compliance with accepted Submittals

  • Verifies that Contractor is performing the work according to approved Project Schedules

  • Reviews Contractor’s detailed weekly look-ahead schedules for inconsistencies or need for modification/adjustment

  • Reviews and verifies Contractor work activity Safety Plans, and Contractor performance of safe work practices

  • Assists RE & QA coordinator with planning, scheduling and call-out of routine, or specialty testing and inspection by “outside” technical CM sub-contractors

  • Works with Client’s Operations supervision, and crews, in joint, coordinated, performance and completion of the construction work; coordinating cooperation between Contractor and Operations

  • Participates in developing punch lists, verification of testing and commissioning

  • Provides input to documentation for turnover of completed Work and equipment turnovers

Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years of Verifiable heavy construction supervision and inspection experience, including 3-5 years of underground work experience (Tunnel & Shaft work)

  • Civil Geotechnical background

  • Spoken and written English language Communication skills, at or above the high school level; with the ability to prepare written work documentation reports

  • Proven ability and experience reading, interpreting and performing work from construction contract Plans & Specifications

  • Ability to perform basic communication tasks on computers, and prepare daily documentation records and reports in an electronic format, including inspection photographs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefer 8+ years of experience as underground inspector

  • Preferably experience with TBM with RC liner plate

  • Experience with the tools, equipment and materials used in underground construction; hands on experience as a miner, working underground is preferred

  • OSHA 30 hour Construction Safety Certification and basic First-aid & CPR training

  • This position does not include sponsorship for US work authorization.
