Our Distribution Business Unit in Europe consists of a distributor and dealer support network. They deliver reliable sales and service of durable and high performing engine, generator set and aftermarket products to our regionally based (global) partners. Cummins Inc. designs, manufactures, sells and services diesel and alternative fuel engines from 2.8 to 95 liters, diesel and alternative-fueled electrical generator sets from 2.5 to 3,500 kW, as well as related components and technology. Cummins serves customers through a network of 500 company-owned and independent distributor facilities and approximately 7,500 dealer locations in more than 190 countries and territories.

This Director role is in the Global Integrated Services (GIS) organization, which is a global organization that consist of four functions: Aviation, Facilities, Hospitality and Security. The role is the most senior Cummins GIS position within the Europe Area Business Organization (ABO), with domestic and international accountabilities for Cummins within the region.

The Director is supported by professionals with subject-matter expertise in aviation, facilities services, hospitality and security. The Director works in a diverse, multi-cultural and innovative space to provide support andguidance to the Europe ABO leadership to deliver the Cummins experience to our employees, customers and visitors.

TheEuropeABO is comprised of 30 countries with differing cultures and languages. Four operating segments (Components, Distribution, Engine and Power Systems) are commercially active there with nearly 7,000 Cummins employees. ​

This is an exciting opportunity that can be based anywhere in Europe. With the successful candidate expected to travel a minimum of 50%, to our large facilities across the European region.

Your impact will be seen in these and other ways:

  • Work closely with senior stakeholders at European Cummins sites, ensuring sites are compliant with Cummins high standards and guidelines

  • Be seen as a strategic leader internally for all GIS operations including: Aviation, Facilities, Hospitality and Security.

  • Develops, implements and maintains processes across the region’s operating units to mitigate risks, respond to incidents, and limit exposure to liability.

  • Develops and directs strategy, including management of direct employees and suppliers.

  • Communicates with the Global Team, Business Units (BU), executive leadership and regional Cummins staff.

  • Directs GIS operations for the region through Security Managers, Regional Security Advisors, Facility Managers and Project/Construction Managers.

  • Sets strategic approach to all GIS related work, aligned with the ABO/Region business goals.

  • Interfaces with GIS global/regional leadership.

  • Serves as part of the GIS and Europe ABO Leadership teams.

  • Manages initiatives or programs on behalf of GIS, on a regional or country level, across all Cummins business units and functions.

  • With ABO Leadership, establishes and communicates strategic approach and governance for the region while ensuring that business strategies consider any necessary total cost, efficiencies and business goals.

  • Develops and leads teams to assess needs, implement, and integrate GIS programs. This may include:

  • Long-term capital development and improvement budgets, expense plans and facilities improvement / expansion plans to determine any economies of scale possible across region. May review and approve capital project requests.

  • Influences across business units to ensure that facilities are used efficiently and cost-effectively across their lifecycle.

  • Maintains strong relationships with vendors, utilities, and trade unions; develops strategies to minimize costs across region through effective use of vendors and utilities.

  • Works with Functional Excellence Directors to drive continuous improvement initiatives and identify best practices. Owns performance metrics and reporting for region.

  • Recruits, selects, manages, coaches and motivates regional/site/project personnel; provides guidance and direction on problems and issues; delegates work assignments considering manager skills and development needs.

  • Primary GIS connection to the ABO/Business Unit (BU) for strategic issues.

  • Single point of contact for ABO/BU as integrator (voice of both the BU and GIS - Facilities / Security).

  • Develop scope and charter projects to address the ABO/BU need. Accountable for delivery (Regional / Campus leaders Responsible for delivery).

  • Actively engage in cross functional work to determine the best way forward for the business.

  • Act as ABO/BU Champion and model company behaviors and policies in relation to governance of processes.

  • Feedback to Global and Regional GIS leaders on tactical issues and general progress on projects in the ABO.


Skills and Experience Required:

  • Master's degree or international equivalent in an area of study relevant to this position and/relevant experience or Bachelor's degree or international equivalent in an area of study relevant to this position

  • Excellence in customer service.

  • Strong oral and written communicator that can construct and deliver key messages to various levels of employees, suppliers and visitors.

  • Previous management experience is essential, as the successful candidate will be managing a team remotely across Europe.

  • Previous budgetary experience would be an advantage.

  • Knowledge and experience with Six Sigma methodologies.

  • Knowledge of Cyber Security would also be beneficial.

  • Business Planning/Strategy - development of business plans & strategies through business analysis and applying strategic thinking to business situations.

  • Develops Systems and Processes - Demonstrated ability to improve and expand the application of developing systems and processes at Cummins.

  • Manage Execution - Assigns responsibilities; delegates to and empowers others; removes obstacles; allows for and contributes needed resources; coordinates work efforts when necessary; monitors progress.

  • Set the Aim - Demonstrated results indicating deep knowledge of setting the aim. Helps others align their work to higher-level organizational goals. Applies measurement standards in achieving results. Provides clear direction and priorities in larger scale initiatives that connect tasks and activities to overarching vision.

Salary £75,600 - £84,000 GBP (dependent on Experience)
