Placement - Purchasing

We run an exciting 12 month placement where you are given an opportunity to work in a role and on real projects making a difference in both your team and the company as a whole. You will receive on the job training and take part in a structured Training & Development Programme designed to give the skills and competencies required for future graduate roles.
The role of the Purchasing Placement will be to work as part of the Power Systems Business Unit in the purchasing department, assisting the plant purchasing leader in the management of both UK and overseas suppliers. This role will provide an exciting opportunity to experience a purchasing career in a global and dynamic environment.
Key project work in support of departmental objectives.
Working with suppliers to monitor delivery performance and capacity issues.
Data analysis to support risk mitigation processes and cost reduction opportunities.
Work directly with the Supplier Quality team to report on quality issues with outsourced parts.
Support with updates to business systems used in the purchasing department. (Including Oracle and other software).
Provide support to the Plant Purchasing Manager in the production and delivery of management reports and presentations.
Understand the cross functional relationship with other departments such as Materials, Quality, Manufacturing and other departments.
Studying for a Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Marketing, Business Studies, Management or Engineering.
A Levels (or equivalent) – please specify grades.
Experience of working in supply chain beneficial however not necessary.
Analysis & computer skills – Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint etc.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Willingness to learn.
The role will provide excellent experience for your CV and an introduction to a purchasing role in industry. A mentor will be there to guide you through your placement year. The following training will be provided;
Training in Corporate systems such as Oracle, and familiarisation with other business software (such as etc)
Coaching to enable the development of other business skills.
4 x 1 day workshops through an external training provider: Adapting to Professional Environments, Effective Communication and Presentation Skills, Team Work, Customer Care.
