This is an exciting opportunity in Daventry for a Senior Quality Engineer – Test.
Your impact will be seen in these and other ways:
You will play a lead role in a team responsible for the test and validation of medium to large-sized diesel engines and power generation units.
You will use your experience of engineering-focused Quality processes to test finished products against customer specifications for performance and emissions, and to put containment actions in place.
You will lead a team of 2 Quality Test Engineers and 4 Test Technicians, using well-developed leadership and influencing skills to plan and monitor work in line with forecasts.
You will analyse any manufacturing process issues identified during the production test phase, and recommend corrective actions.
You will escalate any design-based production issues to the Supplier Quality Improvement Engineering team (SQIE).
You will carry out root cause investigation using Fault-Tree Analysis.
You will plan and execute Daventry Plant engine emissions compliance and Acoustic CE testing on Enclosed Generator sets.
Skills and Experience Required:
A background in end-of-line engine test and validation.
A knowledge of engineering quality processes and standards, e.g. ISO 9001, 8D, PFMEA, APQP, PPAP.
Strong exposure to 6 Sigma.
Experience of Fault-Tree Analysis.
An awareness of acoustic testing methods for generator sets.
An ability to manage stakeholders and to apply influence to achieve the best possible customer outcomes.
Previous Lead Engineer or managerial experience.
Required Education, Licenses or Certifications
University degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, or
Equivalent vocational qualification, or
Equivalent working experience in an engine production environment.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary £37,351 - £45,650 (dependent on experience)
8% Variable bonus
