Job Summary


Maintains TF34 aircraft engines at the highest quality and safety standards, maintains, and assists in the maintenance and troubleshooting of engine related problems. Makes all proper entries in the aircraft maintenance records. Performs tasks under minimum supervision.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Disassembles, inspects and reassembles TF34 engines and engine components as required in the performance of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks.

  • Performs removal and installation of engines on A-10 aircraft.

  • Performs engine-rigging tasks using the applicable technical data for both installed and uninstalled TF34 engines and required operational checks of installed engines on A-10 aircraft.

  • In FLSU, remove and install aft aircraft section, aircraft panels, raise and lower windscreens, and position/tow aircraft on the sound suppressor/hush house or trim pad.

  • Completes all necessary manual and automated records required by USAF and Company directives.

  • Complies with the requirements of the FOD prevention, housekeeping, tool control, environmental and safety programs.

  • Follows technical data, manuals, regulations, and other maintenance directives as required.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge - A working knowledge of the hand tools and hardware used in the maintenance of TF34 aircraft engines is required.

  • Special Certifications Desired - APU Operation, Engine Run Qualified, Clear Red X on A-10 Primary AFSC, and Clear In-Process Inspections on A-10 Primary AFSC.

  • Special Certifications Required - Inlet, Intake & Exhaust Inspector, Blade Blend, Borescope, Sign All Condition Tags, and Sign Not Reparable This Station tags.

Experience & Education

  • /Experience/– Eighteen (18) months of general aircraft maintenance experience is required.

  • Experience will include troubleshooting systems to component level and repairing mechanical and electromechanical components.

  • Also, experience will include repairing line replaceable units to component level (i.e. conductor repair and component removal and replacement to include applicable soldering procedures and precautions).

  • One (1) year experience in the past three (3) calendar years on A-10 aircraft required.

  • Technicians who do not meet minimum experience requirements have 180 days from the date of hire to complete the corresponding 5-Level core tasks as listed in the Site Training Business Area 2A651 Air Force Specialty Code Master Training Plan.

  • /Education/– Completion of high school or the equivalent is required.

  • Completion of specialized courses is desired.

  • The ability to read and write and to comprehend technical data is required.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

Special Conditions:

  • Must be able to lift a minimum weight of 50 lbs.

  • Stand for prolonged periods of time.

  • Have the ability to climb ladders and stairs.

  • Normal color vision is required.

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license is necessary to obtain flight line driving privileges.

Work Environment:

  • May work in Aircraft maintenance hangar or outside.

  • May be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure.

  • May be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft.

  • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; may be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts, vehicles, or aircraft.
