WindStream Communications Customer Service Tech I in Dawsonville, Georgia

TheCustomer Service Technician Iinstalls, maintains, diagnoses, and repairs business and residential customer telephone wiring, internet services, and outside plant facilities. The Technician may see an opportunity to cross-sell Windstream products and services during the Technician’s interaction with the customer. This position requires the ability to perceive customer needs and offer products to fit those needs. Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license, and the ability to respond to after hour call-outs./*Candidate must also reside within a 30 mile radius of the position office location./

Responsibilities: * Process routine and non-routine assignments * Communicate with customers regarding installation/repair * Promote and sell company products and features based on customer needs * Present and conduct self in a professional manner; promote positive company image to the public * Diagnose, clear, and repair outside plant facility troubles * Repair minor cable cuts and damage * Perform basic central office tasks * Operate a variety of tools and devices including test equipment * Adhere to safety standards and regulations * Safely operate and maintain a clean and organized company service vehicle

  • Hold a valid driver’s license and have a safe driving record
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to speak clearly and articulate steps to non-technical customers
  • Ability to troubleshoot, solve problems, identify roadblocks, and make decisionsquickly and decisively
  • Ability to quickly and successfully build rapport with a wide range of customers
  • Ability to use diplomacy when working with challenging or demanding customers
  • Possess basic math and PC skills
  • Possess a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to distinguish colors in use of color-coded cable
  • Ability to use equipment with maximum load capacity of 275 lb
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, working aloft, and successfully completing required safety training
  • Ability to accommodate a flexible schedule, overtime, weekend, holiday hours, and on-call for after-hours support

Minimum Requirements: Associate’s Degree in a technical discipline and 2-3 years of technical/telephony experience with 2 years directly related to the job; or, 5 years of directly related telephony experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and/or directly related telephony experience; or applicable military experience required.
