We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Manager of Process Engineering with our Corporate Engineering department located in Deer Park, Texas.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate and or transport our products, as our highest priority.

  • Ensure that Process Safety and Risk Management principles are incorporated into the foundation of department operations.

  • Supervise and Manage the Process Engineering Group within the Corporate Engineering Department including planning, coordinating, executing and monitoring all aspects of the Process Engineering Group’s activities.

  • Review the work and performance of Process Engineering Group personnel to ensure accuracy and timeliness of process requirements.

  • Perform conceptual, preliminary and detailed process design on an as needed basis.

  • Coordinate Process Engineering Group personnel to ensure business unit and overall company priorities are addressed in a timely manner by allocating the proper resources at the correct time.

  • Establish and maintain open communication with all company operating facilities to ensure they are aware of Process Engineering Group technical capabilities and that the group is available to assist with plant troubleshooting and/or process improvement objectives.

  • Provide technical leadership and process engineering expertise in the core chemical processes of the company.

  • Interact with capital project managers to verify project designs are accurate and meet the intended scope.

  • Serve as a technical specialist for the Corporate Engineering Department in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles and processes.

  • Develop and/or share novel approaches and concepts to unique or controversial problems.

  • Assist in the coordination between engineering disciplines, participating in project planning activities and support cost and schedule updates.

  • Develop improved processes and tools to support department responsibilities and increase the efficiency and accuracy of the group.

  • Work under minimal supervision and effectively manage multiple/changing priorities.

  • Develop existing personnel and recruit new talent to the Process Engineering Group.

  • Perform manpower planning and forecasting for personnel.

  • Conduct performance reviews, salary and promotion recommendations, succession planning, mentoring and coaching as needed for the Process Engineering Group personnel.

  • Develop training materials for use by other process engineering professionals.


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Chemistry required.

  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a lead, supervisor or manager in the process engineering field.

  • Minimum of 10 years functional experience in process engineering.

  • Minimum of 10 years functional experience in process engineering performed in the refining/chemical/petrochemical industry.

  • Proficiency in process engineering principles and methods

  • High proficiency in Microsoft applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and a good working knowledge of SAP.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to read, write and speak in English.

  • Must be able to respond to off hour emergencies.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team.

  • Ability to work weekends, holidays and respond to callouts on a non-routine basis.

  • Physical requirements – Must be able to lift 40 lbs., climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending, stooping is required. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
