Oracle Consulting Technical Manager - Technical Delivery / PreSales in Denver, Colorado

As a recognized authority and leading contributor within their practice, this senior-level consulting position provides consistent high quality and innovative solution leadership to a project team. Leads the solution design and implementation aspects of engagement(s) ensuring high quality, integrated software solutions within constraints of time and budget.

Analyzes business needs to help ensure Oracle solution meets the customer s objectives by combining industry best practices, product knowledge, and business acumen. Exercises judgment and business acumen in selecting methods and techniques to deliver functional and technical solutions on non-routine and very complex aspects of applications and technology installations. Provides direction and mentoring to project teams, and effectively influences customer leadership on key decisions. Supports the business development efforts by pursuing new opportunities and extensions. Collaborates with the consulting sales team by providing domain expertise. Resolves complex customer issues by recommending and implementing solutions. Demonstrates expertise in multiple business processes across two or more product families or ability to architect and design technology solutions encompassing multiple products and make decisions based on impact across the stack.

8-10 years of experience relevant to this position including 4 years of consulting experience. Prior team leadership or management experience preferred. Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience preferred. Product or technical expertise relevant to practice focus. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to build rapport with team members and clients. Strong influencing and negotiation skills. Ability to travel as needed.

The Principal Services Architect bridges the gap between technical solutions and business priorities by applying industry and technology expertise to understand client needs, identify gaps in the current state, develop custom solution options, support the sales cycle, develop delivery planning, identify delivery risks, and provide delivery support.

Combining customer collaboration and Oracle Utilities Opower products, you will partner with software sales/pre-sales to effectively develop and propose high-impact professional services.

As a key member of a diverse team, you will be the primary owner of the professional services design and estimation work-product as part of the sales process for custom software/services.

You will partner with sales executives and software license pre-sales counterparts to define and present custom services scope, schedule, and budget by drawing on their software design and implementation experience. You ll prepare and deliver compelling presentations, develop high-level as well as detailed software and service designs, and collaborate with client-side technical resources to develop solutions, build trust, develop delivery plans, and own the final statement of work (SOW).

Additionally, you will work closely with colleagues across the company, such as Product, Marketing, Client Success, and Regulatory, to design complex services solutions, and develop/improve processes that increase selling repeatability and scalability.

In this role, you will

Become an expert in Oracle Utilities Opower current and future products and service offerings.

Listen to our clients. Guide them towards sharing their solutions ideas and most importantly their underlying business challenges and priorities. Facilitate workshops to identify client business needs.

Design and estimate custom software service solutions based on our products and service capabilities that meet the clients most pressing needs and set them up for long and healthy relationships with Oracle.

Enable your partners on the field sales team to pitch the right solution to the right client in the right way to win the business.

Own the development and approval of the final SOW.

Provide critical support throughout the bid/contract development, propose, and close process.

Provide knowledge transfer to the rest of the professional services organization that will deliver the designs you create.

Partner with project management during the transition to delivery as well as provide key technical oversight and guidance to through delivery to launch and live operations.

Identify opportunities to build the delivery team s skill sets and enhance our service offerings.

Identify, advocate for, and implement opportunities to improve the diveristy and inclusiveness of the Opower team.

Train our sales team on current and future custom services offerings.

Return feedback on services requests from clients in the field to the marketing and product management teams.

Participate in complex sales activities such as responding to RFI/RFPs by partnering with pre-sales and sales.

Increase sales repeatability and scalability by helping to define and implement best practices, including the improvement/creation of internal processes and tools.

Personally partner with sales executives and assist with defining sales strategy and project planning for 5-10 high-value, strategically important deals each year.

May be asked to travel up to 0-25% of the time.

You possess a broad understanding of modern software technology and have an analytical mindset that enables you to envision a solution and the detailed, technical path to make it a reality.

You have 8 years of software project management and/or systems application consulting experience with a consulting firm or software provider.

You have 4 years of consulting, presales or sales experience.

Experience in Software design, Software development, and/or full-cycle implementations of ERP and/or eCommerce applications desirable. (Oracle ERP, SAP, MicroSoft, other)

Previous application experience in one or more of the following is an important asset:

Technical High Priority: Web Applications, RESTful API designs, SSO standards (SAML and Oauth), software security (Secure File Sharing, Secure Shell Handshake, Secure File Transfer Profile, and encryption), transactional vs service applications,

multi-tenant vs single-tenant platform design;

Other valuable applications experience includes:

Web Analytics, Web Design Concepts (responsive, embeddable, dynamic content), Web Technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, React, AngularJS), Linux Bash, Linux environment deployment processes, big data fundamentals, ETL fundamentals.

You have effective verbal communication skills, can tell a good story, and you re comfortable presenting to both technical, business and executive audiences.

Capabilities in management consulting type activities are preferred, for example:

Ability and experience in translating client issues into effective and achievable client solutions;

Ability to facilitate fact-finding and active problem solving workshops with other internal and/or client-side technical and functional partners;

Ability to present clear and crisp custom software design concepts to both technical audiences as well as business management audiences.

Experience in utility/energy industries desired.

Experience with Demand Side Management or Customer Engagement solutions is strongly preferred.

Strong written communications skills, including slide development and document authoring.

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Provides direction and specialist knowledge in developing custom software services solutions for client business. Facilitation of service application understanding through presentations and workshops; provision of support throughout the sell and through delivery.

As a Principal Services Architect you will be responsible as the expert for formulating and leading presales technical / functional support activity to prospective clients and customers for custom software services as well as providing a measure of ongoing technical oversight during delivery to ensure customer satisfaction.

Acts as a technical resource and mentor forless experienced Services Architects and for pre-sales/sales colleagues. Focuses on large or complex sales opportunities that need creative and complex custom solutions.

Develops productivity tools and training for other Services Architects. Develops and supports outstanding Oracle presentations and contract documents. Supports discovery, qualification, solution development, and some contract development aspects of the technical sales process. Advises internal and external clients on overall services solutions.

Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others with the potential for team management/leadership. Work is non-routine and complex,involving the application of advanced technical skills in software design/development and delivery. 4 years consulting experience with relevant computer applications or database/tools.

Thorough knowledge of system and application design. Demonstrated project management skills. Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills: client needs analysis, technical assessments, risk assessment and mitigation, test planning.
