Want to work on one of the fastest growing areas within the products at Oracle? Oracle Engagement Cloud! We are currently looking for a Director of DevOps to join the Oracle Engagement Cloud. As Oracle continues to aggressively move towards a full range of Cloud Solutions we want you to join our team and directly be responsible for supporting, developing, and delivering these solutions.

Our department is Oracle Engagement Cloud (OEC) DevOps within the OEC Engineering organization. One primary focus is on integrating Oracle’s wide suite of Cloud products to provide compelling solutions for specialized industries like consumer goods and retail finance. In addition, our team helps to produce the software tools that Oracle uses to patch the SaaS fleet and manage internal environments, and plays a key role in Service Management for Oracle Sales Cloud Operations. We operate using agile principles and currently have teams located in Canada, U.S. and India.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance across our service management team (10-15 team members)

  • Build, manage, and support a team of DevOps engineers as grows using transparent, data driven metrics

  • Establish and Enforce Cloud best practice policies

  • Oversee the timely triage of escalated customer issues and assist the team with customer environment access while enforcing policies

  • Conduct periodic on call duties

  • Support application deployments which include patching and upgrade of existing

  • Contribute to the creation of system support documents

  • Have an “Automate Everything” mindset to support scalable growth

  • Provide regular qualitative assessment to executives which include metric gathering and real-time status of the current condition of the fleet as it pertains to our customers

  • Collaborate with other areas (Operations, Performance, Middleware, Release Management) as necessary to obtain efficient solutions in addition to driving more strategic efforts that involve the fleet

  • Triage and resolve configuration issues by sponsoring wide-scale fixes or identifying environment specific fixes

  • Develop audits to assess the state of all customer environments with respect to a given issue or scenario

  • Estimate tasks and meet milestones and deadlines appropriately while reporting progress to management

  • Collaborate with other team members on assignments and solutions design

  • Research and design projects

Experience:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or related field

  • 10 years of technical experience

  • 4 years leadership experience

  • 3 Years of Cloud Platform administration

  • 5 Years in Software Development specific to Enterprise software

  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems

  • Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment experience

  • Deep understanding of networking and application load balancing concepts and technologies

  • Understanding of protocols/technologies like HTTP, SSL, LDAP, ASP.NET at http://asp.net/ , SQL, HTML, XML, JSON, SFTP, VPN (IPSEC/ISAKMP)

  • Proven track record of design and development and implementation in with various facets of enterprise software including migration, scalability, flexibility/configuration, and performance

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal

  • Capable of working independently and efficiently

  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment on multiple projects at a time with individuals from multiple departments regions and cultures

  • Oracle ADF/SOA/BPM knowledge - added advantage

As a member of the OEC Service Management team, you will rarely experience two identical days. With a fleet of thousands of environments spanning multiple releases many types of customer issues arise, but this team specializes in solving the most challenging of those issues with completeness and excellence by driving to the root of problems. People that thrive in this environment are excellent communicators and build key relationships as aside artifact of the quality of their work and follow through. A high level of access to customer environments is available to this role at both the front end (UI) and back end (OS) and with it comes a daily necessity of applying business ethics, best practices, and the consistency principles of a SaaS deliverable. In addition to the issue resolution portion of the position there are several development projects assigned to the team which help bring visibility to how the software is used in the fleet in addition to where the 'hot spots' are.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex, needing independent judgment and follow through. Fully competent in own area of expertise. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area.

Manage a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a director of the software engineering division, you will apply your extensive knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and envision future improvements to the architecture.

Assists in the development of short, medium, and long term plans to achieve strategic objectives. Regularly interacts across functional areas with senior management or executives to ensure unit objectives are met. Ability to influence thinking or gain acceptance of others in sensitive situations. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
