Summary

Provide leadership and direction for load management control decisions to ensure smooth control day operation and ensure long-term objectives are met for existing load management programs (Residential and C&I natural gas & electric interruptible customers). Analyze and recommend modifications or enhancements to control equipment, software and control strategies.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Analyze the impacts of various control strategies and provide the technical system control information to Marketing and other constituent groups in a useable form. This involves understanding existing control technology and working with Marketing to apply programmatic changes and/or new product development efforts to evaluate the impacts and control strategies necessary to ensure smooth control day operation.

  • Provide one-time and on going reports by accessing, analyzing and summarizing information from various information systems. These include databases, SalesForce, DRMS, CRS, PMSI and YUKON systems.

  • Develop, test and document alternative control plans in case of key component failure. These programs have annual expenditures in excess of 10 million dollars. Additional costs and penalties could be incurred by a failure of these systems to operate properly.

  • Evaluate system redundancy, security, and data handling requirements. Make recommendations to ensure appropriate day-to-day processes are in place and adhered to. This entails working directly with Information Technology staff and hardware/software vendors to solve problems before they happen by predicting weak links in the systems. It also involves providing solutions, which include recommendations for the purchase of redundant hardware/software or instituting policies and procedures to avoid problems and ensure data integrity. This also involves complete documentation of processes and alternatives.

  • Support internal DRMS by: monitoring and optimizing system performance, backup and recovery of information, modifying program structures as directed by the business, and importing and exporting data updates with notification system vendor.

  • Ensure appropriate communication regarding system status and availability with Marketing, Energy Marketing and Load Research departments. This involves providing timely communication due to system changes, install rates, etc. to the above listed groups within Xcel Energy.

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 3 years of experience in an Analyst role maintaining business databases/systems

  • Thorough knowledge of SaleForce/CRS/DRMS

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high stress environment

  • Ability to work after typical business hours or weekends if control events occur

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in MIS or Computer Science

  • 2 years of Saver's Switch or related load management experience
