Summary of Key Responsibilities: Performs medical assistant related procedures for patients enrolled in clinical trials
Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include but are not limited to: * Access, flush and de-access ports. * Perform peripheral and port lab draws. * Prepares patient for examination. * Assist physicians with procedures as needed. * Prepare and stock exam rooms. * Obtain vital signs and EKGs from pharmacokinetics (PK) patients. * Perform buccal swabs on pharmacokinetics (PK) patients as needed. * Ensure proper maintenance/handling of EKG machines (clinic and sponsor EKGs) * Verify the correct study lab kit is prepped for the pharmacokinetic (PK) patients with long days and new starts every morning prior to patient arriving. * Respond to queries generated from study sponsor or contract lab regarding patient/sample data. * Maintain laboratory equipment and workspace in all areas. * Interface with P/SL and laboratory personnel regarding labs for research patients. * Interface with the Clinic Research Nurses to ensure that all research patients have correct lab kits prior to patient visits. * Order medical supplies as needed. * Obtain radiology authorizations. * Respond to emails daily. * Utilize electronic medical record source for documentation. * Assist other research personnel in the clinic when requested. * May perform front office duties as needed. * Other duties as assigned. *Mandatory: * * Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement” * During your employment with SCRI you will be routinely assigned training requirements. You are expected to complete any training assignments by the due date.
Competencies: * * _Knowledge:_/A body of information needed to perform tasks; May be obtained through education, training or experience/ o Knowledge of organization policies, procedures systems o Knowledge of OSHA requirements for safe handling of blood and body fluids * _Skills:_/The proficiency to perform a certain task/ o Skill in computer applications o Skill in verbal and written communication o Skill in gathering and reporting information o Skill in venipuncture and blood processing * _Abilities:_ /An underlying, enduring trait useful for performing duties/ o Ability to multi-task in fast paced environment o Ability to work effectively with staff, and other internal and external sponsor and agencies *Education: Minimum Required: High School Diploma (GED) Preferred; Medical Assistant training
Experience: Medical Clinic or Clinical laboratory and phlebotomy or equivalent experience
Certification or License: Current BLS certification
