Verizon Principal QA Engineer in Denver, Colorado
What you’ll be doing...
We are actively searching for a Principal of Software Quality Engineering as part of the technology organization within MapQuest.
This role will provide technical leadership, vision and direction for the fast-growing Quality Engineering team. Youll own automation testing, manual test-script execution, performance analytics and release procedures for all of our products. The Principal will also provide technical guidance and mentorship to quality engineers with a dedication to deliver product roadmaps on-time and within budget. In this role you will provide vision and leadership to implement latest software quality practices with a focus on delivery.
Assist in hiring and mentoring of automation QA personnel
Architect, design and build the necessary infrastructure to create and run automated tests for new and existing features
Create detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases
Review product requirements to evaluate user and system impact
Investigate and eliminate root causes of software defects
Manage the QA, staging and load testing environments
Learn and implement latest in QA technologies and tools
Actively participate in alpha and beta testing cycles
Oversee manual and regression test creation and execution
Work closely with DevOps leadership to determine and instigate software release procedures
Evangelize QA best practices throughout the organization
Set, monitor and achieve software performance metrics
What we’re looking for...
You will need to have
BS/Masters in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
6+ years of testing automation experience
Even better if you have
Extensive experience using frameworks such as Selenium or Cucumber
Ability to develop, create, modify, and execute automated test cases based upon defined acceptance criteria, business logic, and other business requirements
Ability to track test progress and results in test management tools, in order to establish trends and metrics that can be used to track and assess overall quality across teams and product lines.
Expertise regarding mobile testing best practices
Knowledge of RESTful APIs
Experience working in an Agile environment (preferably using Scrum or Kanban methods) is preferred
Proficient in Agile development methodologies and bug tracking tools such as JIRA
Knowledge of relational databases, complex queries and shell scripts
Familiarity with Web services, Web applications, and applications that operate in a cloud environment (such as AWS)
Familiarity with technology such as Fitnesse, JUnit, SoapUI,Jenkins and Maven
In-depth knowledge of professional software engineering practices for the full Software Development Life Cycle, including all phases of testing throughout the cycle, with an emphasis toward automation.
