HCA, Hospital Corporation of America Registered Nurse (RN) Wound Center - PRN in Denver, Colorado

*Wound center is open Monday-Thursday. No weekends or nights. May require minimum of 2-3 shifts per week.



*Position Summary: *This position supports the mission of Presbyterian/St Luke’s Medical Center of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person. The Staff RN oversees and directs the care of the Wound Management Center patient seen for wound care. The Staff RN coordinates all aspects of patient care delivered in the clinic and by ancillary services. Responsible for direct patient care, including planning, directing and provision of nursing care to patients in accordance with the Colorado Nurse Practice Act, Physician Orders, recognized nursing techniques and policies, procedures, established clinical competencies based on P/SLMC wound care protocols. The Staff RN is responsible to manage the quality management program for each patient using the Wound Management Center algorithms. Demonstrates critical thinking and leadership in the anticipation and planning for the care of the patient. Responsible for meeting the clinical competencies set forth by P/SLMC. When need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

A. *Licensure/Certification/Registration:*Current Colorado Registered Nurse License (may work on a current RN compact license for the first 180 days of employment).BLS through American Heart Association required. WOCN certification preferred.

B. *Education:* Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred.//

C. *Experience:* Minimum of two years acute care; ambulatory care highly desirable.

D. Special Qualifications:Provide courteous, positive and professional image. Demonstrates superior interpersonal skills. Ability to work with staff in wound care and with other departments, ability to problem solve and handle multiple priorities. Knowledge of general nursing theory and practice including, but not limited to, asepsis and sterile technique, principles of body mechanics, and medication administration. Knowledge of learning principles for all ages and the ability to teach and develop an effective patient education program. Completes position responsibilities by following established guidelines and protocols with the appropriate timeframes. Demonstrates good skills in all forms of communication. Works well with others in a spirit of cooperation. Maintains education and development appropriate for the position. Adheres to established hospital and departmental guidelines and protocols. Supports hospital mission, vision and values. Performs position-specific job functions at an acceptable level.

Degree of supervision required: Involves general guidance and direction by the Director of Wound Management Center and/or Clinical Nurse Coordinator. Employee will be expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
