Oracle Senior Research Advocate, Oracle for Research in Denver, Colorado

Development and implementation of business plans, marketing strategy, and forecasts for a product/service or vertical market.

As a product analyst you will participate in every stage of the product life cycle to ensure product meets the needs of users. Drive the implementation of programs in support of the marketing strategy, business plans, and forecasts for assigned product lines. Maintains current status of customer specifications for existing and future products. Identify, evaluate, and recommend marketing opportunities in support of product line objectives. Drive product functionality delivering high quality product documentation. Lead products through scheduled release assisting others to manage commitments and resources. Measure and report progress and review deliverables.

Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Demonstrated product/project management experience. Ability to work with Executives. Strong interpersonal skills. Excellent written and verbal communication. Demonstrated product/project management experience. Creative, energetic, and enthusiastic. Team player. Experience using or implementing Oracle, SAP, or Peoplesoft applications. Basic HTML and web technology skills a plus. 8 years technology/industry experience and BA/BS/MBA degree.

Senior Research Advocate, Oracle for Research

Oracle for Research focuses on collaborating with researchers to expand Oracle Cloud adoption by researchers, nurturing and developing an Oracle Research user community, and sharing the ways researchers use Oracle Cloud to change the world through their work.

The ideal candidate will have an advanced degree and some academic research experience, hands-on proficiency with cloud services architectures, and proven ability to manage projects and cultivate relationships at all levels. An understanding of the intricacies of building and sustaining relationships with academic institutions and researchers is essential. This is not a sales or business development role; however, previous experience in one or both areas will be helpful.


  1. Engage with researchers and research ecosystems at key institutions in your region to understand their work, identify key strategic opportunities where Oracle Cloud would add value, and develop a pipeline of current and future research undertakings.

  2. Work closely with research teams to help them understand and maximize the value of Oracle cloud services for their work.

  3. Conduct conversations with research institutions about Oracle agreements and processes for obtaining Cloud environments.

  4. Manage each research collaboration to support the researcher s successful use of Oracle Cloud and the achievement of mutually agreed project-driven milestones and outcomes.

  5. Track and manage the recording of any research products of interest to Oracle that result from research collaborations, and support marketing and PR efforts related to those research products.

  6. Work with product management and sales organizations to share lessons learned and enable adoption of Oracle Cloud for research purposes beyond the specific collaborations, including at institutional levels.

  7. Develop strategy and tactical plans for go-to-market in your region that deliver tangible results and contribute to the "building blocks" of an Oracle for Research go-to-market strategy worldwide.

  8. Contribute to the development of marketing resources that support the Oracle for Research program and Oracle s engagement in the research market more broadly.

  9. Support the development of an Oracle research user community, both online and in person. Activities may include, for example, for example engaging in conversations with researchers about their use of Oracle Cloud on public forums (Github, Stackoverflow, etc), offering or organizing technical lectures at academic institutions, and initiating and attending meetups.

  10. Identify academic journals, conferences and other events in your region where Oracle for Research should be present to expand visibility and engagement.

  11. Collaborate with marketing to identify research success stories and develop content to drive visibility and engagement and deepen Oracle's credibility in the research market.

  12. Through communications, actions and direct collaboration with researchers, establish and expand Oracle's reputation as a valued collaborator and thought leader in research.

Ideal Candidate Background

  1. 10 years of work experience across product development or management, academic research, go-to-market strategy and planning, sales or business development, and content creation

  2. Candidate with a background that includes both academic research and corporate experience is highly preferred

  3. Fluent in Oracle technology and product strategies; hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud.

  4. Experience working in academic environments

  5. Familiarity with research funding agencies and grant processes in relevant region(s)

  6. Demonstrated experience in successfully developing and managing cross-functional teams and projects to achieve stated goals and results

  7. Excellent written and oral communication skills; peer-reviewed academic publications; proven experience articulating complex research and technical problems in ways that can be understood and appreciated by non-experts

  8. Ability to engage effectively in multiple projects simultaneously, and to adjust priorities quickly, while maintaining a high degree of organization

  9. The ability to speak multiple languages fluently is a plus.

  10. Advanced degree, Ph.D. highly desirable
