Position: Registered Nurse (RN) / Urology office
General summary of duties: Assist physicians in performing nurse procedures for the comfort and well-being of patients. This includes interviews, medical histories, injections, completing lab and other diagnostic requests, administering prescribed medications and simple treatment and education of the patient as directed by the physician or non-physician provider. There will also be administrative duties outlined below.
*PRACTICE STANDARDS/ESSENTIAL DUTIES: * 1. Contributes to appropriate assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care. o Ensures patient safety and protection; collects and records data on patient condition including vital signs. Uses/manages equipment safely and appropriately, administers medications including injections and treatments within the scope of practice and training. o Greeting patients, escorting to evaluation room and preparing them for examination or procedure. o Preparing exam/ treatment supplies and equipment and assisting MD/NP during treatment, examination and testing of patients. o Triaging patients (both on site and in terms of scheduling) for a smooth and productive flow.
Communicates with patients, team members, and management in an accurate, timely manner.
o Talks with, listens to patients/team members; reports pertinent, concise information; completes charting in a timely manner; manages computer charting/ordering as appropriate; protects confidentiality of patient/colleagues. o Notes problem list/ abnormality for MD/NP. o Observes and records and reports patient conditions and reaction to medications and treatment. o Responding to and screening telephone calls for referral to nurse or physician.
Manages Medical Records o Ensures that patient chart entries are made accurately and in a timely matter and forwarding charts as appropriate. o Maintain patient files, records and other information
Applies critical thinking skills and considers alternatives. o Organizes multitask workload; prioritizes tasks/work; seeks assistance as necessary; collects data from multiple sources as necessary; organizes/delivers care for multiple patient assignment under the direction of and in collaboration with MD/NP.
Develops and maintains human care relationships. o Understands the impact illness/hospitalization have on patients/families; adapts care delivery for diverse populations and environments; advocates for needs of clients; provides care in ethical and legal manner; refers concerns/issues to MD/NP.
Manages self and resources effectively.
o Acknowledges limits of experience and capability; identifies learning needs and seeks resources; utilizes equipment and supplies appropriately; maintains clean, orderly environment of care; ensures traffic control in “sensitive areas”; seeks out and accepts feedback; requests assistance appropriately. Delegates as appropriate, to Licensed Nursing Assistant and or clerical support.
Incorporates teaching in delivery of care with a focus on heath promotion.
o Collaborates with team including diabetic nurse educator and nutritionist to provide information to patients, screens for barriers to learning. o Instructs family and patient in follow up instructions for medication and treatment. This may include contacting pharmacies for prescription ordering and notifying patients
Applies knowledge integration skills for the patient populations served within unit/area of hire. o Provides age-specific care; applies knowledge of expected norms in provision of care.* * o Responsible for infection control and disposition handling of infectious or hazardous material.
Administrative support for MD/NP and program o Assist with scheduling of tests and treatments o Assist with follow up scheduling o Arrange referrals to additional specialist o Obtains and insure pre authorization o Cleaning and restocking of rooms/office for supplies o Maintaining stock up to date and monitoring and maintenance of medical equipment o Controlling inventory and monitoring the use of supplies
Demonstrates specific skills requisite for assigned role and service area in collaboration with the MD/NP.

Participates in safety education, safety, quality and performance improvement initiatives. o Customer Service/Patient Centered Care: shows genuine concern, respect, and ability to communicate cordially with patients, visitors, physicians, and other employees; is sensitive to customer inconveniences and responds accordingly. o Confidentiality, compliance, patient/provider rights. Adheres to corporate and professional codes of conduct, Standards of Excellence, HIPAA privacy standards. o Attendance, punctuality, meetings - Participates in continuing education programs & mandatory education to maintain competence and gain additional skills & documents attendance. Annual absenteeism will not exceed HR standards, attends at least 50% of staff meetings, reads communications.
Identifies personal learning needs based on performance, sets goals for the next 12 months. Meets goals established previously.

_EDUCATION:_ * Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Degree preferred * Tuition Reimbursement Program(up to $5,250/calendar year) * Student Loan Assistance(up to $1,800/calendar Year) _EXPERIENCE:_ * 1 Year of Nursing experience * Experience in an MD Office * Computer literate * Six months experience as an RN in Urology _CERTIFICATIONS:_ * NH RN license or valid RN Compact State License * BLS * HCA will payfor certification renewals once employed
