Background to the Role
Mercer Global Investments Europe (MGIE) is the European arm of Mercer’s Delegated Solutions (DS) business which manages in excess of US$150bn of client assets globally. The European DS business was established in 2006 and currently manages assets in excess of $60bn. Investment is via Mercer’s Irish domiciled fund range, which consists of 60+ Irish domiciled sub funds across 4 umbrella structures.
MGIE has experienced significant growth over the last 24 months and with a strong pipeline of activity, this looks set to continue for the foreseeable future. This growth has involved a huge level of new client on-boarding and has seen the business further enhance its product and service offering and positioning in the market. With this there have been highly successful project initiatives over the last 12 months that have bolstered Mercers business, making it more scalable and dynamic. Accompanying this growth, there have been a number of newly created roles and internal promotions which illustrate the career progression potential within the Business. As a direct result of this growth, there is now an opportunity for to join the Mercer’s dynamic Delegated Solutions’ team.
The Opportunity The Investment Solutions team is heavily involved in all investment aspects of the Delegated Solutions fund range. The team directly manage the suite of LDI, passive, bespoke funds and work closely with the other Portfolio Managers who design our active funds. The team liaise directly with all external investment managers to agree investment guidelines & mandate details and integrate them into the Delegated Solutions infrastructure. Core Responsibilities:
Design and implement investment solutions across all asset classes to ensure development of a market leading offering.
Work closely with selected external investment managers to efficiently agreed investment goals
Ensure continued evolution of our solutions.
Oversee any modifications from an investment perspective to ensure implemented in the optimal manner.
Liaise closely with other members of Mercer’s portfolio management, operations, legal, compliance and sales teams to contribute to overall thinking on any items which are common across all our solutions.
Contribute to the Investment Solutions team to develop best practices and consistency across our solutions. QualificationsThe Individual
Experience and Skills:
Preferred 5+ years’ experience in an investment management, investment consulting or investment banks.
Experience and understanding of investment management guidelines and all associated legal documentation desirable.
Experience in overseeing, and providing input into planning of investment portfolio transitions desirable.
Experience in running multiple tasks concurrently and working in a rapidly changing environment.
Ability to build and sustain internal and external relationships
High-level attention to detail and an understanding of its application to the bigger picture
Highly disciplined and organised with ability to run multiple tasks concurrently and work in a rapidly changing and dynamic environment.
Understanding of current investment environment and related issues.
A strong undergraduate degree majoring in Accounting, Actuarial Studies, Business, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Science or similar discipline is essential.
Further qualifications such as CFA, CAIA, Actuarial qualifications or a relevant Master’s degree is highly desirable. R_010548-en
