Thermo Fisher Scientific Commercial Operations Manager in Durham, North Carolina

Job Description

The Commercial Operations Manager manages and supports the day-to-day activities of the Sales support staff. The Manager will provide leadership in the form of activity prioritization, training plan development, identify process and productivity enhancements, and liaise with Sales and Operations to ensure smooth completion of Sales support tasks.

Responsibilities:

Provide team leadership & development

  • Manage Sales Coordinator team

  • Identify team training needs and coordinate training

  • Develop tools and guidance documents to support the team

  • Develop and maintain training records

Sales Support & Processes

  • Serve as Project Manager on RFPs

  • Measure support satisfaction levels of the selling organization

  • Develop new ways/tools to support the Sales team

  • Determine pain points in sales support and develop better workflows

  • Support the Com Ops Manager as needed

Item & Price Management

  • Create and/or maintain existing ISO procedures

  • Ensure consistent execution of procedures and provide root cause analysis when necessary.

  • Maintain Products & Price manual

  • Support annual price roll

  • Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in appropriate specialty (preference for business, life sciences, or engineering).

  • Two or more years of proven customer service, commercial operations, sales support, and/or project management experience.

  • Ability to effectively interact with and collaborate across departments, business unit leadership, and Thermo Fisher divisions.

  • Cooperative team and management skills, interfaces effectively with all levels of employees and management within Company; contributes to company/departmental goals.

  • Have a “Customer Service” approach to relationships with internal and external associates

  • Be detail oriented and be accustomed to working on multiple tasks

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient computer skills (including MS Excel, PowerPoint and Project).

  • Proficient in Salesforce.com and experience as administrator.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with effective strategies for interacting with a variety of audiences and situations.

  • Willingness and availability to travel overnight up to 10%.
