The Finance Manager position works closely with the Marketing, Sales and Distribution Services teams to promote and support product and service sales; manage financial analysis to support reporting and analysis; and track operating metrics across the company to promote efficiency and increase operating and financial performance.
This position requires significant project management skills. Its role within the company is to (i) manage and analyze financial and other performance based data, (ii) communicate performance results and key analytics across departments within the company and up the corporate chain of command, and (iii) set and manage improvement initiatives to increase top line sales and/or profitability of the core distribution and services businesses. The responsibilities of this role include:
Financial Analysis and Reporting
Developing and preparing monthly reporting, including standard templates for revenue growth and variance analyses by customer/vendor/product class, margin variance analyses by customer/vendor/product class, new business/lost business tracking
Ad hoc reporting and analyses to identify key trends and performance drivers
Lead the forecasting and AOP processes, engaging business leaders and Sales to understand drivers of future performance.
KPI’s and Project Management
Lead the development and tracking of metrics for financial and other operating metrics as directed.
Identify and prioritize opportunities for profit enhancement (via volume growth and/or margin improvement), and take ownership for developing actionable projects for pursuing selected profit improvement opportunities.
Coordinate and enable commercial team efforts on these projects, track and report results, and communicate with executive management to garner additional support and resources as needed to support these projects.
Collaborate with Marketing & Sales to prepare and analyze vendor and sales performance to support key business development initiatives
Prepare and present corporate financial approval package for all bids/proposals, review with marketing and finance to ensure goals are met
Cross-Functional Support & Engagement
Team with Sales Compensation to administer commercial teams pay plans; including but not limited to building the customer/account level annual forecast and analyzing and adjusting quarterly performance
Actively participate in PPI projects
Ad Hoc projects, reporting or analysis as requested
Proven record of successful individual and team process improvement actions
Significant financial analysis, data management, or equivalent experience in similar function in industry
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple and diverse tasks and projects
Ability to influence cross-functionally and effectively manage/lead initiatives with other disciplines within the Company (such as marketing, sales, supply chain, IT and customer service)
Ability to travel up to 30% domestically
Minimum 5 years of progressive analytical experience with a focus on analyzing and interpreting data to evaluate business performance and support effective business decision making
Bachelor’s Degree required, advanced degree preferred
Excellent analytical capabilities including Excel and relational database skills. Experience with in-depth financial modeling as well as demonstrated analytical and statistical problem solving skills, including data handling
Ability to communicate (both written and verbal) effectively with senior management
