  • Monitoring the system’s performance, including network LTE, 1x, and EVDO metrics, and finding ways to make improvements or mitigate potential problems.

  • Resolving service-impacting issues, sometimes using non-traditional, out-of-the-box solutions.

  • Investigating and resolving customer complaints, often through drive testing, field visits, and efforts to replicate the customer experience.

  • Working cross-functionally to deploy and optimize components for best efficiency and reliability.

  • Leading the investigation of Root Metrics/Baseline/Nielsen, and the coordination and implementation of complex network directives.

  • Creating pre- and post-cell site/carrier add templates and checklists for LTE & CDMA, also making sure site/carriers are properly integrated into network and optimized for peak performance.

  • The primary purpose of this position is to be one of the functional leaders in the team and provide guidelines, recommendations and share best practices at the Territory level for large venues, Stadiums, Arenas, and other in-building systems within the East territory.

  • Responsible for defining and creating East territory venue and in-building design guidelines and recommendations for venues, stadiums, arenas and in-building systems.

  • Responsible for writing multiple test plan documents and commissioning and optimization procedures for in-building systems and large venues like Stadiums and arenas.

  • Working closely with device OEMs and HQ to help develop and implement new features to DAS systems, Ethernet based systems, DRAN and eFemtos.

  • Driving the broader team understanding of new features in the in-building industry at a Territory level.

  • Providing leadership on technical analysis, troubleshooting, and training assistance to submarkets and markets as requested.

  • Establishing process to take upcoming products from function based FOA to a user case based implementation guidelines that submarket teams can focus on executing.

  • Evaluating cost effective solutions and driving the implementation of those in the submarkets through effective guidelines, communication and training.

  • Taking the lead and work with submarkets on important high profile events like Superbowl to make sure we are equipped to handle the load and user demands for these kind of special events.

  • Taking the lead on evaluation and trial of 5G technology and LTE advanced features for in-building systems and large venues.

  • Continuously evaluating new products for iDAS, ODAS, 5G and other CAT5/6 based in-building solutions.

  • Working to establish a WIFI Strategy for deployments in large stadiums and arenas

  • Interacting effectively with customers (internal and external).

  • Taking ownership of issues and drive them to resolution.

  • Training other junior engineers in the team and playing a mentor role.

  • Working effectively with colleagues and with various departments (Territory and HQ teams, Network RF/SP, Network Operations, Network Engineering, and Maintenance Engineering) and vendors as a team.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Experience with system optimization.

  • Experience with LTE and VOLTE interfaces.

  • Knowledge of major DAS systems such as Commscope, Mobile Access, Solid and or JMA.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in electrical engineering or a similar discipline (Master’s degree preferred).

  • Experience with parameter optimization, trials, and statistical analysis.

  • Understanding of Ericsson/Nokia LTE roadmap and plans, and how this relates to 3GPP standards.

  • Experience with LTE, VoLTE, EVDO, CDMA2000-1X air.

  • Knowledge of CAT5/CAT6 based systems like Ericsson DOT and Spidercloud.

  • Experience with system optimization, KPIs, and parameters of LTE for Ericsson, Alcatel-Lucent, Nokia, or Motorola end-to-end wireless network architecture.

  • Understanding of packet data networks analysis concepts. Ideally, including knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol suite, TCP/IP (IPv4 and IPv6) algorithms such as slow start or congestion control algorithm, IP measurement tools such as ping, traceroute, pathchar, snoop & tcpdump.

  • Understanding of Routing protocols like RIP, OSPF, BGP or SIP.

  • Experience with WireShark.

  • Ability to differentiate and diagnose RAN, EPC, and IMS CORE related problems.

  • Experience with ANR, CMDS, Carrier Aggregation (CA), 4X Transmit, 4X Receive, AWS, TMA’s, RET, RRH, or Ericson AIR antenna products.

  • Understanding of Advanced Calling (VoLTE), SIP, and the analysis of SIP messaging using Irisview.

  • Experience with RTT, e-health, ELPT, Chicago web, Mars, SAM, Agilent Access CDMA, Actix, Windcatcher, NLT, Zite/SSAT, Mapinfo, Geoplan, and any network optimization tools.

  • Experience in RF design.

  • Understanding of core network including but not limited to PDSN, CSR router, WDN router, Aggregate Router, (P,I,&S)CSCF, PCRF, AAA, HSS, MME, SGW, PGW, IMS, 7750 and Cisco 9K, 10K & 1K routers.

  • Knowledge of one scripting language such as Perl or visual basic.

  • Knowledge of IP and transport protocols.

  • Knowledge of LAA, CBRS and 5G architecture.

  • Strong statistical and analytical abilities.

  • Working knowledge of at least one data collection tool such as Datapro, TEMS Symphony.

  • Working knowledge of data analysis/post-processing tools such as Irisview, Windcatcher/Actix/TEMS Discovery.

  • Ibwave level 1 certification (Ibwave Level 2 or Level 3 certification).

  • Knowledge of propagation and optimization modeling tools such as Planet, Atoll, GeoPlan, ACP, DB Planner.

  • Knowledge of Ericsson-ALU/Nokia systems including OSS.

  • Knowledge of 3GPP LTE standards.

  • Ability to understand, compile, evaluate, and present complex data and solutions.

  • Knowledge of mapping software such as MapInfo, ArcGIS, Topo.
