Oracle Senior Director, Competitive Intelligence in Edison, New Jersey

Development and implementation of business plans, marketing strategy, and forecasts for a product/service or vertical market. Manages a staff of managers.

As a manager in product marketing, you will be responsible for leading the development of company marketing specifications for specific product(s) or product line(s). Manage marketing activities within the context of the overall corporate plan to meet company objectives. Monitor the development of business plans and business results of e-marketing. Manage lifecycles and product positioning in the market place. Identify customer needs, oversee market research, and monitor the market trends/competitive landscape. Implement and monitor advertising campaigns. Act as a technical advisor for specific product(s). Initiate and foster relationships with development, sales, and other groups to develop new products or enhance functionality of existing product(s) or product line(s). Ensure successful product releases based on corporate priorities.

Directs and ensures the implementation of operational policies through subordinate managers. Interacts internally and externally with executive management involving negotiation of difficult matters to influence policy. Functional expertise and broad company knowledge. In-depth knowledge of the computer industry, database and development technology and markets. Extensive marketing analysis experience. BA/BS degree. MBA preferred.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Director of Competitive Intelligence will lead the complete transformation of Oracle’s strategic research for sales and product marketing leaders around the world. As part of our corporate marketing team, you will develop ongoing cadence to drive competitive awareness across Oracle’s portfolio of enterprise products, acting as a conduit between product marketing and sales. You will help create and execute win/loss analysis, product comparison/positioning, deal support, features matrix, and sales training.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Understand the unique needs of different internal customers: sales, product marketing, and product management.

  • Create crisp and consumable compete content that will empower sales with confidence and credibility.

  • Synthesize research into actionable insights for marketing on how to develop highly differentiated product messaging.

  • Provide sales deal support and hold training sessions.

  • Launch and manage a quarterly win/loss analysis across major competitive scenarios.

  • Create and maintain a matrix of product features.

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • 10 years’ experience in competitive research within the technology sector

  • An exceptional communicator, who can write, present and effectively adjust messages to meet individual audiences and organizations

  • A hands-on builder of high performing team who can both lead and do

  • Track record of driving transformation and partnering closely with cross-functional teams

  • Passion for problem solving in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent program/project management skills with ability to drive complex strategic and operational initiatives

  • Can translate high volumes of ambiguous or conflicting information into concise insights

  • Outstanding strategic thinker with a customer-centric mentality
