Job Summary

AECOM is currently recruiting for a Senior Project Manager to work in the Calgary or Edmonton, AB office. This position will integrate into a well-developed team of environmental engineers and scientists to provide leadership on projects in the contaminated sites field, specifically with industrial, oil and gas, manufacturing sector and public sectors

The responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Provide leadership and technical expertise in support of ongoing AECOM environmental investigation, risk assessments and remedial design projects and portfolios

  • Prepare site investigation reports, remedial design reports, work plans, specifications, proposals, budgets and project schedules and provide solid oversight and review of less experienced staff work products for regulatory compliance and technical accuracy

  • Assist in business development activities by supporting business development proposal efforts

  • Maintain positive working relationships with client contacts, suppliers, contractors, engineering consultants, and external agencies

  • Supports and drives AECOM quality, project management and performance management systems

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in engineering, geoscience, environmental science, natural science

  • 10+ years of professional experience

  • Experience with oil and gas clients

  • Possess relevant professional registration (e.g., P. Eng. and/or P. Geo.)

  • Excellence in communication and collaboration skills that facilitate detailed planning, timely decision-making and efficient implementation

  • Ability to direct and mentor less experienced staff with a focus on teamwork and integration within multidisciplinary teams on a wide range of technically challenging projects

  • A proven ability to manage projects

  • Must possess a valid drivers license

  • Position requires occasional travelling

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years of professional experience

  • Good understanding of procedures developed for Phase I, II and III ESAs, Site characterization, Soil and Groundwater Monitoring Programs and Remediation of contaminated sites

  • PFAS experience

  • Experience with innovative data collection and presentation

  • Knowledge and ability to review remedial action plans and risk management plans for contaminated sites

  • Knowledge and capability to provide technical leadership to a multidisciplinary project team

  • Senior level communication with clients and stakeholders

  • Ability to work under the regulatory framework provided by AB MOE, AB Energy regulator, EUB and CCME

  • Commitment to AECOM’s Behavior Based Safety (BBS) program. Provide Health and Safety leadership to less experienced staff in line with the BBS program

  • Undertake business development and client management for existing and new clients

  • Position requires occasional travelling

  • Fluency in written and spoken French is an asset
