We are looking for an Associate Director of Database Services to join our platform operations leadership team. This is an opportunity to work with AT&T’s world class engineers to build, manage and maintain data solutions that will streamline the operational efficiency of AT&T entertainment products. Job Description:

  • Provide technical expertise in distributed storage, processing technologies for handling large amounts of data and database services available in 3 rd party clouds

  • Plan major database upgrades, service transitions, tech refresh and preventative maintenance, upgrades.

  • Lead a team of database and database ecosystem engineers responsible for the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, break-fix, monitoring and maintenance of databases and database ecosystems. The databases are comprised of legacy SQL commercial databases and newer noSQL and opensource databases.

  • Drive proficiency in scripting for database configuration, tuning and automation of common management tasks.

  • Optimize query performance and execute processes for replication, high availability and data migration.

  • Manage and maintain inventory of database versions and configurations.

  • Execute security and compliance requirements.

  • Establish operator training program for current and future technologies.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors of Science in technical area such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science

  • 7+ years hands on experience in database design and operations.

  • Experience with SQL coding and tuning

  • Experience with traditional commercial database technologies such as Oracle, MySQL, MSSQL, DB2

  • Experience with noSQL databases including such as Cassandra, MongoDB, Couchbase, MemSQL and MemCache.

  • Experience with no SQL at scale (eg Hadoop, Mongo clusters, and/or sharded Redis)

  • Hands on knowledge of scripting automation and software development languages: Powershell, Bash, Python, Java, Ruby

  • AWS Operations certification or experience is desirable

  • Experience in designing fully functioning data platforms.

  • Strong leadership, communication and collaboration skills.
