AT&T Cyber System Engineer (Government) in El Segundo, California

AT&T is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to provide technical/management leadership on engineering and cybersecurity related activities in support of the Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) to the Global Positioning System (GPS) Directorate at the Air Force’s Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) at Los Angeles Air Force Base (LAAFB) in El Segundo CA.

Will perform the following tasks:

  • Ensure GPS Enterprise’s systems implement best security and engineering practices for Identifying, reviewing and mitigating risks across the SMC/GP Directorate

  • Perform systems engineering and analysis services for the Government/SE&I contractor in support of existing and new system capabilities

  • Develop, document, implement, and integrate engineering and cybersecurity framework processes as required to improve the GPS Enterprise Cybersecurity program

  • Serve as adviser to SE&I contractor, government, and stakeholders to satisfy Engineering, Information Assurance (IA) and Cybersecurity requirements based upon the analysis of policy, regulations, user requirements and resource demands

  • Perform vulnerability/risk analyses of computer systems, applications, and hardware during all phases of the system development life cycle to identify vulnerabilities, architectural design and implementation flaws

  • Serve as SME to the prime contractor and government to ensure that all system requirements and interfaces are consistent and valid across the SMC/GP Enterprise

  • Lead and support Government/Contractor Working Group meetings - responsible for technical discussions, risk identification/mitigations, developing and providing guidance for integrated cybersecurity practices and solutions to individual programs and projects across the GP Enterprise

  • Conduct risk analysis of system design requirements and provide cybersecurity strategy recommendations for the development and implementation of security features for ground and space systems within the enterprise

  • Support GPS Enterprise Cyber Risk Assessments with planning activities, technical assessments and administrative tasks

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, master’s degree (MS or MA) preferred. Degree in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent preferred and a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience

  • 8+ year’s Cybersecurity Engineering experience on Space Defense programs

  • 7+ years of work experience in IA/Cybersecurity

  • 7+ years of work experience in System Engineering Architecture/Design

Desired Experience:

  • Current or recent experience directly supporting Air Force Military and Civilian personnel on Space program at the Government facility is highly desired

  • Prior Air Force Space Systems IA experience including Requirements, Risk Management Framework (RMF) Assessment and Authorizations (A&A)/DIACAP Certification and Accreditation (C&A) processes, NIST 800-53 and CNSSI 1253, Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&M)

  • Cyber Policies and procedures, System security risk analysis reporting, and Security vulnerability assessments
