Verizon System Assurance Engineer in Euless, Texas
What you’ll be doing...
Our Network System Assurance team keeps our highly reliable network operating at optimum levels for our customers. As a network system assurance engineer, you’ll be operating, administering, maintaining, and evolving our highly complex network to support the needs of our customers. You will be responsible for the advanced installation, operation, and maintenance of switching, data communications, and peripheral equipment associated with the Mobile Switching Center (MSC).You’ll be maintaining system applications, ensuring quality customer service, and providing support to a varied user community. You will resolve equipment and software issues, perform upgrades, and configure and administer multiple vendor systems. You’ll also coordinate installation, testing, and troubleshooting of transmission Ethernet facilities 1/gig/10gig/100gig and up, as well as Ethernet back-haul circuits to field and hub sites.
Create, integrate, and troubleshoot router and Nokia radio node new services for 4G and 5G networks.
Monitor, analyze, troubleshoot and resolve system events for various technologies, including Dark fiber, VoLTE, 5G, 4G LTE, and3G voice/data.
Managing equipment and services supported by the Systems Operations Team, such as transport systems (DACS, fiber nodes, panels, wiring, (TDM, SONET, Microwave), switching systems (Nokia/ALU 5ESS, OMP, RNC, packet networks (Cisco, Juniper, Nokia/ALU), multi-services provisioning platforms (MSPP, Fujitsu, Nokia/ALU).
Provide initial troubleshooting/investigation, ongoing communication and preventative maintenance on critical office systems; AC and DC power plant (Generators, batteries, rectifiers, inverters), heating and cooling units (HVAC) as well as fire systems.
Manage outage bridges and engage vendors for outage support.
Provide support to localize and isolate faults, detect and diagnose anomalous behavior.
Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as necessary.
Weekly on call rotations.
What we’re looking for...
You'll need to have:
Associate’s degree or two or more years of work experience.
Three or more years of relevant work experience.
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Willingness to travel.
Even better if you have:
Electronics training in one or more of the following fields: telecommunications (cellular or landline) switching systems or experience in LAN/WAN operations and IP connectivity.
Experience in the Nokia 3G, 4G and 5Gcellular infrastructure its operations, maintenance, configurations and trouble resolution including the following systems Nokia eNBs and 7750 and 7705 Nokia routers.
Experience in the operations, maintenance, configurations and trouble resolution of the following MSC based equipment:
Nokia 5E ECP and 1671. Ciena 6500 Packet Optical Platform support
ethernet dark fiber networks with CWDM and DWDM protocols.
Experience with vRAN VCP systems and Nokia vRAN software applications.
Training in data communications, digital communications, operating systems and applications, telecommunications, computer support, project management, and/or power/electrical.
Networking background and industry certification (Cisco/Juniper), routers, switches, IPv4 and IPv6.
Knowledge of call flows.
Experience with Python, and UNIX/Linux operating systems.
Knowledge of data networking protocols including TCP/IP, OSI, Frame Relay, ATM, OSPF, BGP, SS7, MPLS, Session-Initiated-Protocol, Mobile-IP other LAN/WAN protocols.
Experience with transmission facilities and Ethernet back-haul.
Knowledge of computer systems, stored program control, and power.
Knowledge in the use of electronic test equipment.
