Role Summary

Church & Dwight is looking for a passionate and talented Team Leader to lead our newly established Consumer Advocacy and Insights function. The function is responsible for using consumer intel and beauty trends to inform strategic plans and build consumer engagement and advocacy. This person will consolidate data-driven findings from numerous existing and new sources including consumer social conversations and will identify emerging beauty trends and develop actionable consumer insights. They will use this information to help inform at a minimum marketing, messaging, consumer programs, innovation and retailer plans. This person will manage the Consumer Advocacy Team and Trend Insights/Innovation Coordinator.

*This is a remote position that will require up to 25% travel depending on your location.

Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates holistic thinking, strategic agility, and leadership with all levels of the organization. Works with cross-functional departments (i.e. Consumer Research, Brand Marketing, Global New Products Innovation) to consolidate existing sources of information while also identifying new sources of information that will keep Church & Dwight on the forefront of beauty and haircare trends and our understanding of the Specialty Hair Care consumer.

  • Synthesizes research findings into actionable insights. Communicates learning and recommendations in a clear and concise manner, both through written and verbal communication to the marketing, innovation, social and beauty sales teams to incorporate into future growth plans.

  • Collects, analyzes and synthesizes consumer learning to tell a cohesive and actionable story. Leads beauty trend and insights quarterly reporting that can be repurposed with cross-functional teams and retailers. Hosts semi-annual beauty summit.

  • Leads the consumer and marketplace analytics learning agenda to address business objectives for all Specialty Hair Care brands.

  • Leverages a mix of secondary and primary research to always keep pulse on consumer desires. Leads development of social-based and email questionnaires for primary research and works with Church & Dwight market research department on secondary research.

  • Collaborates with the Director of Marketing and Beauty Sales Team Leader on certain strategic projects including trend innovation (packaging, beauty and seasonal sets, retailer exclusives).

  • Coaches and develops Social Media Manager and Insights/Innovation Coordinator.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required

  • Must have a minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience (social media, customer / market analytics, consumer retention, innovation, business development)

  • Must have minimum 3-5 years of line management experience

  • Demonstrated success in leveraging consumer insights and syndicated data analysis to drive business results

  • Analytical mindset with an understanding of the marketing landscape and ‘light’ product innovation

  • “Out of the box” and “disruptor” mindset combined with appreciation and respect for the rich legacy at Church and Dwight

  • Must be an independent, strategic, and creative thinker who is at the same time a strong team player (no job is too small or too large) and willing to take on additional responsibilities as necessary

  • Self-motivated and ability to work in fast-paced ever-changing environment

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

  • Outstanding stakeholder and change management skills in order to mobilize teams into action

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent analytical skills combined with strong financial business acumen (P&L, growth, bottom line)

  • Understand relevant market trends in the beauty industry

  • Ability to explore disruptive ideas and challenge the status quo without disrupting the organization

  • “Doer” and “executor” – knows when it’s time to stop analyzing and start executing

  • Outstanding project and stakeholder management skills – knows who to involve and when to ensure successful execution

  • Remarkable communication (written, verbal) and sales skills – as the Team Leader will need to “sell” their new, creative ideas internally
