The Transportation Analyst Planner (Specialty) is responsible for the planning and oversight of transportation operations for assigned facilities, ensuring a high level of service and cost management. The areas of focus for the specialty transportation analyst/planner are traditional TL and LTL shipments, as well as specialty truck shipments (Hopper Bottom, Tank, Walking Floor, etc..). Working knowledge of rail shipments and container shipping are also beneficial.
Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Plan and provide oversight for the transportation activities, both outbound and inbound within the Church & Dwight Specialty network., with exposure to multiple Specialty and Consumer facilities.
Represent the Corporate Specialty Transportation Department as the internal liaison between Transportation, our selected carrier base, and the operational needs of our plants and distribution centers.
Participate in Carrier selection for the Corporate Specialty Transportation Program and manage carrier relationships.
Provide analysis as required to identify service and cost savings opportunities. Candidate must be comfortable working and presenting with cross-functional groups.
Establish relationships and obtain rates as needed from Specialty Carriers, Rail Carriers, and Container Carriers (Freight Forwarders).
Process freight forwarder and carrier invoices as needed.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
1 – 3 years of experience in a logistics or transportation environment preferred.
Knowledge of Specialty / Bulk Transportation a plus, to include Railcar freight.
Transportation Management System (TMS) experience a plus.
Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite of products, including Microsoft Excel & Access.
Skills and Competencies
Superior interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and the ability to communicate effectively to internal and external customers.
A willingness to work in a fast-paced environment.
