How will you make an impact?
Manage new business projects (also multi-building) and ensure delivery of project targets according to PMP by effectively utilizing resources and optimizing the output within a predefined timeframe, budget and boundary conditions with special regards to security, safety, health, environment, cost efficiency as well as quality and meeting deadlines.
What will you do?
Align on project targets in cooperation with Quoting Manager and Marketing & Sales and define detail targets for all project phases according to PMP
Take ownership for allocated projects in terms of decision making within defined budget and scope. Take corrective actions where appropriate
Manage value creation from scope changes and phase transitions, ensure regular project evaluation, including reporting as well as updates in terms of budget and scope in close cooperation with the project owner; take on role of gatekeeping
Role of owner for relevant business case (application, competition, life cycle etc.) in alignment with business intelligence, sourcing, supply chain, marketing & sales and finance & controlling
Intense alignment with Marketing & Sales to facilitate good customer relationship; direct contact with customers regarding the status of projects
Establish, lead and motivate project team members in performing their tasks, with special regards also to social skills and communication/presentation
Ensure adequate and sufficient resources within the project (in alignment with line management), for example from Analytics, Process Chemists, Process Engineers, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Logistics and Purchasing as well as external partners or contractors
Ensure the technical and chemical implementation with regards to the agreed conditions, under the given commercial boundary conditions
Ensure the realization of project targets including safety, health, quality, costs and time limits
Ensure the complete project documentation with regards to Thermo Fisher standards and requirements as well as customer requests within the time and cost limit
Chemical and technical evaluation (incl. cost calculations) in order to respond to requests from the market and within Thermo Fisher
Set up and maintain contacts with other companies worldwide, regarding outsourcing services within projects in close cooperation with Purchasing
Maintain good customer relations, direct contact with the customer where appropriate
Coordination of project portfolio in respective segment
Manage own projects and ensure a smooth project development from the project start (including feasibility phase) until transfer to regular production
Ensure incorporation of expert knowledge within Thermo Fisher also in close cooperation and coordination with other sites
Evaluation of outsourcing possibilities as well as set-up and implementation of outsourcing projects within the organization in close cooperation with the project owner as well as marketing & sales and finance & controlling
Propose suitable outsourcing project plans to the Leadership Team, ensure approval by the Portfolio Steering Committee and facilitate the realization of improvements in the plants
Establish, lead and motivate project managers and members of own project teams in performing their tasks
How will you get here?
- Bachelor degree in Science minimally required. PhD preferred.
Requires 2-5 years of experience with project management in the pharmaceutical industry required if candidate has PhD; requires 7-10 years of experience with project management in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry if candidate has a Bachelor degree.
Experience in chemical and technical process development required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Excellent communication and leadership skills, as well as solid negotiation skills.
