CACI International Transportation Specialist in Fort Belvoir, Virginia

Job Description

CACI is seeking a Transportation Specialist supporting PdM CEH, functions as a team member reporting directly to the Product Support Manager. As the Transportation Specialist for PdM CEH you will coordinate and administer processes associated with the passage of materials, goods, products, or people. Prepares appropriate documentation required for the mode of transportation asset being utilized. Uses local and Army transportation policies and procedures to arrive at the appropriate transportation solution. Provides technical advice and assistance in the execution of daily transportation requirements. Utilizes knowledge and expertise of the Army transportation system to manage transportation requirements. Prepares Military Shipping Labels (MSL), RF/AIT (Radio Frequency / Automated Information Technology) and special areas such as HAZMAT (hazardous materials) documentation. Obtains desired information from appropriate sources, organizes data into usable format for analysis, coordinates and follows-up with data systems and other management information systems to insure data collection is carried out. Must have basic knowledge of the principles of deployment, traffic management and transportation requirements of the missions/operating programs served, plus technical developments in the transportation field.

What You’ll Get to Do:

  • Plans, coordinates, monitors and expedites the movement and documentation of cargo shipments (CONUS & OCONUS)

  • Applies comprehensive knowledge of a wide range of traffic management policies, principles, and practices, government regulations, commercial tenders and tariffs, carrier practices and capabilities, and freight classification guidelines

  • The contractor shall provide Hazardous Materials Transportation certification, Air Worthiness certification, U.S. Customs Shipper’s Export Declaration and other documentation as required; ensure in-transit- visibility of Equipment and Property via appropriate use of Government Furnished Radio Frequency Identification tags and automated shipment tracking such as Global Air

  • Identifies operational requirements and recommends procedures on methods to meet mission requirements and/or cost avoidance to the government

  • Monitors shippers, carriers and outside agency data input into the Transportation systems

  • The contractor shall assist on all matters pertaining to cargo movement via Commercial freight (Line Haul, Airlift and Rail) and Military aircraft or vessels

  • The contractor shall provide expertise for transportation IAW the Defense Transportation Regulation 4500.9-R- Part II and movement of cargo, i.e. ground, air and sea

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Active Secret Clearance

  • 3- 5 years of specialized experience which includes planning, advising and maintaining the movement of cargo, interpreting and implementing cargo plans in accordance with military agency regulations, administering HAZMAT guidelines

  • Must be HAZMAT Certified

  • The contractor shall provide Hazardous Materials Transportation certification, Air Worthiness certification, U.S. Customs Shipper’s Export Declaration and other documentation as required; ensure in-transit- visibility of Equipment and Property via appropriate use of Government Furnished Radio Frequency Identification tags and automated shipment tracking such as Global Air

  • Transportation Execution Systems, Global Transportation Network (GTN), Integrated Data Environment/Global Transportation Network Convergence, Intelligent Road/Rail Information Server, and shipment tracking through commercial accounts with DHL, FEDEX, UPS.

  • Must possess strong MS Office skills in Word, Excel, Power Point, Access.

  • Understanding and experience with Military and Civilian etiquette.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Familiar with US Army Acquisition Programs/Process ASA(ALT), DOD 5000.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • DoD or US Military: 5 years (Preferred)
