Role Summary

As the Head of Commercial Finance for Water Pik you will be responsible for all commercial finance to include financial planning, budgeting, analysis of financial and operating results, forecast, long-term business plans, cash management, investments, and maintaining bank relationships. Under the direction of the General Manager and with the Controller, this position is responsible for the Company's financial plans and accounting policies and maintenance of its fiscal records.

Role Accountability and Responsibilities

  • Directs preparation of annual business plan and operating budgets and presentation to internal and external stakeholders of the company as directed by the CEO, CFO, and GM.

  • Directs preparation of forecasted balance sheets and cash flow projections as part of the annual business planning process and updates within the year as required by the CEO, CFO, and Controller.

  • Directs preparation of the annual capital expenditures budget and reporting thereon within the year as necessary and directed by the CEO, CFO, and GM.

  • Creates monthly updates to operating results and forecasts of future results, for all annual plan noted above, at various levels of detail as required by the CEO, CFO, and GM.

  • Creates metrics and key performance indicators to measure operating results and assists managers in using the data to improve performance in their areas of responsibility.

  • With the Controller, responsible for timely completion of management reports, internal presentation of operating results, and board package.

  • Directs preparation of analyses of historical and forecasted results including sales and profit, operating expenses, profitability by customer, channel, brand and product line, geographic territory, product SKU and in any other manner requested by the CEO and his executive management team.

  • Partners with Domestic and International teams to provide above related annual Plans and monthly forecasts and any related analysis to provide transparency of financials. Additional partners with all functional teams and extended field sales in an effort to continuously improve financial results.

  • Prepares monthly budget to actual reports. Investigates and explains significant variances to plan and forecast in income statements, balance sheets and cash flow. Assists managers in understanding results for their specific areas and helps identify corrective action to be taken where necessary.

  • Assists in analysis, due diligence, and integration of merger and acquisition targets, opportunities and completed transactions.

  • Directs all Trade Allowance planning, tracking, and monthly reconciliation by customer in partnership with Sales team. Provides analysis of promotional events and advises on profitability and efficiency of spend.

  • Provides product pricing in partnership with Marketing team to provide consistency in pricing across the globe and ensure continuous improvement toward customer profitability goals.

  • Directs key inputs and analysis for the monthly financial close process including reconciliation of global sales, trade allowance accruals, freight-out accruals, analysis of gross margins, etc.

  • Analyzes company operations to identify areas that represent opportunities for cost savings and/or restructuring.

  • Studies long-range economic trends and projects company prospects for future growth in overall sales and market share, opportunities for acquisitions or expansion into new product areas and creates financial models to quantify the opportunities, investment return and payback.

Education and Experience

  • BS in Business or related field, MBA preferred

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a Finance/Treasury related role within a global organization and experience managing some or all of the following: banking, investments, corporate financing and foreign currency exposure.

  • A minimum of 10 years performing financial and operational analysis in all areas of a for-profit enterprise.

  • A minimum of 10 years directing the preparation of annual business plans, capital expenditures, long-term business plans and periodic updated forecasts.

  • Prior experience partnering with Field Sales team and providing financial advice on various business aspects.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills up and down the organization and to external stakeholders of the Company.

  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated.

  • Strong Excel and supervisory skills.

  • Adaptability and flexibility to operate within a small business environment.
