Summary Description:

Assists the Packaging Program Manager in performing all duties associated with the packaging development, packaging selection, package testing and documentation of new or improved packaging projects.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

  • Review and audit the integrity, consistency, and accuracy of information input into PLCM database for print approval and artwork retention and archive.

  • Write, implement, and distribute Engineering Change Order (ECO).

  • Assist with developing physical package prototypes.

  • Assist with evaluation of component designs and approvals based on specified parameters.

  • Assist with specification development for materials such as corrugated, paperboard and thermoformed plastics.

  • Actively participate in appropriate job-related teams. May lead system-based teams, as appropriate.

  • Assist with conforming to the proper file maintenance and document control that complies with the Company documentation system.

  • File all printed pieces per archive compliance system.

  • Perform weights and measurements on incoming Finished Goods and create pallet layouts for warehouse use.

  • Conduct all activities in a fair, ethical manner, which complies with all corporate policies.

  • Follow quality system procedures. Assist in procedure development, when required. Verify packaging quality and take appropriate action when non-conformances are identified. Maintain accurate records, as required.

Operating Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Good communication skills.

  • Technical ability and curiosity is required.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities across numerous projects, often on fast timing.

  • A self-motivated individual, with a desire to be an important contributor to a winning team.

  • Ability to interact with vendors and multi-functional teams.

  • PC applications including: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Illustrator CS

Training & Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering technology, Packaging Science, Materials Science or other Engineering Technology degree.

Experience Requirements:

  • PC applications including: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Illustrator CS

  • CAD applications including: Solidworks (preferred), Pro/E
