The Plastics Tooling Engineer will manage the development of new plastic injection mold tooling projects to meet a wide range of product performance and product requirements. Work directly with suppliers to quote, design and produce world class plastic tooling by managing the tool design and build, process development and tool qualifications with the supplier.
Collaborate with Design Engineers to guide the part design process to produce plastic part designs that enable robust injection mold construction. In addition, identifying and managing tooling changes needed during the product development process, and changes to plastic parts and molds. Manage the maintenance process of current molds to insure tool longevity.
A Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree preferred
Must possess substantial knowledge and application of engineering principles, practices and techniques used in the design, fabrication and maintenance of injection molds.
Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience with a degree or,
In lieu of a four-year degree, experience in any of the following areas:
Mold design experience
Injection molding technician, or as a Manufacturing Engineer in a molding environment.
Good working knowledge of computers and software. Ability to review parts in Solidworks computer application.
Knowledge of Mold Flow Analysis desirable.
Analytical problem solving skills.
Must possess good written and verbal communication skills and good interpersonal communication skills.
Must be able to lead design, improvement and troubleshooting efforts.
Must perform well in team situations.
Approximately 10% - 20% travel (international).
