Job Summary

AECOM is seeking Side Boom Operators to be based at our Kearl Oil Sands Project site north of Fort McMurray, AB.

This is a 10 day on 10 day off rotation with charter flights out of Edmonton or Calgary. Camp accommodations are provided.

This position will perform a variety of work in the operation of Side Booms. Responsible for understanding and following all operating policy and procedures while operating equipment.

May include the following responsibilities.:

  • Side boom (lower in, set in, tie ins)

  • Properly maintain and complete daily inspections.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in operating Sidebooms

  • Safely operate and maintain heavy equipment

  • Experience in outdoor physical labour or related work experience is required - i.e. Landscaping, general construction labour, road/civil construction, farming and etc.

  • Willingness to travel to different project/work sites

  • Willingness to learn

  • Physical strength and stamina

  • Manual dexterity

  • Work overtime as needed

  • Strong work ethic

  • Safety conscious attitude

  • Physically able, with or without an accommodation, to work in outdoor environments with uneven terrain, variable outdoor conditions including heat, cold, moist, dry, noise, dust, mineral fibers, and chemicals

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pipeline Experience

  • Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) Certification or PST (Petroleum Safety Training)

  • Fall Arrest and/or Fall Protection (OSSA issued ticket) Certification

  • H2S Alive Certification

  • AWP - Aerial Work Platform Certification

  • First Aid - Standard Level Certification

  • Confined Space Entry (CSE)
